My call was for AD to the centres as well; however, I can see the reasoning at to why the coaching staffmade the the call. Watching his last four games he has really struggled in defence. It could be his shoulder, it could be attitude, but if he is struggling to defend at 7 how is he going to do so at centre? The big issues he is struggling with at 7 in defence, decision making and his lateral movement, can be somewhat mitigated if he is defendingin the middle corridor. Whereas, they would potentially be exascerbated further out on an edge.
I called for him to be on the edge to strengthen our attack and push Taruva to his muchpreferred wing position. The coaching team are probaby more concerned about the ability to get ball to the edges in good to give the edges opportunities. Luai has runs on the board with Sam F and Herbert. The right edge has been stifled by our man AD. Not just this last four weeks. Even when we were on the winning streak and teams had not worked out how to defend AD at 7/6. Our point of attack has beome so predictable that defending against us has become very simple as the defenders only have to really focus on one player.
Even if you have not seen Javon play, the discussion on this forum and the KoE highlights, clearly show that he has eecellent pass selection. His stats, leading T/A in cup, back up the eye test. So we are potentially better balanced. How we handle the kicking duties and getting us around the park is a different story. However, if AD was to be starting off the pine I expect the simple game plan would be to get in the grind early and try to open them up with threats on both sides of the ruck and then bring AD on in place ot Twal to braeak the game open by changingthe point of attack and using his running game as a point fo differentialtion as opposed to a point of failure, as it has been over the last four weeks).
We (the forum as a whole) complain that the coaching staff have no idea; yet when they do make a bold move we shit can it before we have even seen it in operation. How bloody fickle we are.
The one I feel for in all of this is Javon. I hope he absolutely brains it, because his hard work in cup has got him to his debut. With AD tearing his party dress into tiny pieces, we don't have much of an option off the pine if he is stuggling.
