I’ve already told you, that the playing group as a whole was not very well connected.
It could be normal and it might be the case at every NRL club, but certainly not as close as Benji has at times tried to claim.
And I’m talking before quite a few players re-signed with us, so quite obviously a bit of hope and winning games helps make it a non issue.
Losing plenty of games is where a good coach needs to be a great people manager to identify any division or player angst and find ways to minimise the issues.
I’d say this is Benji’s weakness.

"the playing group as a whole was not very well connected".... what exactly did you actually hear to make you believe this?

They seemed pretty connected the first 7 rounds when we were coming 3rd.

Winning cures everything tbh. These issues did come up with the whole Galvin/Da Silva saga last year too. It probably got patched up a bit over the offseason and a good start to the year, but then with Luai's announcement and our results starting to suffer for various reasons, these things can come back to the surface.

As I already stated, winning certainly helps patch over any cracks.
Losing brings any issues to the surface.
A part of coaching is to identify when this type of thing happens and not let any anger boil over.

No offence, but BFD. This club are perennial March/April premiers. The form at the start of the season was nothing out of the ordinary. Neither is the way the end of the season is turning out. And people will use Luai and now AD as excuses. When in reality, when was the last time this side ever finished a season by not limping over the finish line?

but you still havent stated exactly what you heard to form your opinion
 
I think with everything that has played out at the club over the last 24 months I am thinking Benji has a man management problem, he has an ego which is what made him such a great player but I feel his ego may be what makes him not a great coach

If you were a fringe NRL player but your progress is blocked I think WT would be a great place to increase your chances to get selected in first grade.
Those players that see that opportunity would be the ones most likely to have faith in their ability, skills and desire to succeed IMO.
They would see themselves as better than what we trot out each week.

For all we hear about how players want to play for him, he sure has a long list of players walking out. I get what AD did was a dick move, but you wonder how a more accomplished coach would have handled it. And I’m not even going to go the cliche of Bellamy or Bennett. Even Fitzgibbon. Mid level coaches don’t go through all of this drama. It’s bottom of the barrel stuff. Shows how little your players respect you.

Do you think AD does this if on the blues bench? If he was playing for Bennett or Bellamy?

He clearly doesnt respect Benji.

Like I said, you don’t have to even go that high. Fitzgibbon, Holbrook. Payten, Webster, Hannay. Wolfe. None of them go through this. Yet, it happens regularly with Benji.
 
My two cents, Every coach has every right to make position calls as he sees fit. You cant let the inmates run the asylum.
Benji made a fair call about the number 7, whether or not it was a good call remains to be seen.
Douehi chucked his toys out of the cot.
Ok, You dont want to play, dont play.
If there is broader dissent over the decision, deal with those players.
I cant see Bellamy or Bennett kowtowing to a precious player.
Benji made the call and now has to stand by it, double down if necessary. No more boys club.
Maybe this is the start of professionalism at WT.
