The reality is we will never go a full season with our first grade squad healthy, other teams seem to be able to handle having 2 or 3 depth players in firsts whereas we go to water immediately. My feeling is that we have struggled more with players playing injured and this has exacerbated the issue. We need a couple of decent quality first graders that have some skill in multiple positions, Averillo is a start and so is Brailey who I feel could cover hooker, lock and backrow in a pinch (assuming he is done), however we need a few more.

We can thank St.George for their slow start and some bad luck that they have had in losing some games that thy actually deserved to win, I've said it before and I'll say it again, they will go okay next season.

St.George do not deserve to get the spoon, we are the ones that should be getting the award this season and we will be red hot favourites for the prize next season unless something miraculous occurs.

Maybe that miracle will be the Bears but I wouldn't count on it, Dolphins didn't save us that embarrassment in 2023.
 
I don't know. I want to give Benji the benefit of the doubt and hope he gets better but it's a professional sport and results count. I think he has next year before things happen. I only hope if things happen and he is to be punted end of next year the replacement is already lined up and ready to go. No delay waiting for applications, interviews and appointment. AND, any new coach has to be good at the current NRL playing rules and style, they might have been a good coach in a different playing era but not now.

PS oh wouldn't it be nice to get rid of 6 agains and give defending team a chance to reset. Value defence as much as attack. What's better blow out games or good grinding games?

Our sole attacking strategy is for a back to run sideways..avoid contact at all times..and predictably turn it back inside to a slow straight running forward.
Then kick on the 5th
Benji as a player never relied on structure..and it shows

I don’t feel like Benji is gonna get the flick. I know a contract doesn’t mean anything, and yeah HBG can pay him out but I don’t think they will, atleast not for another year anyway. So where does that out us? As everyone has stated he needs help! I think his right hand man needs to be experienced, that is either Arthur or Flannogan. The only issue I have with flank is he is a Moses employee and Moses hates us. So that means we go with Arthur. By all reports Arthur wants to coach nrl again, so if Benji fails again next year it’s probably an easy transition for then Arthur to take over. I really want Benji to work! We all love him
.but his coaching is struggling. That’s what you get with someone inexperienced. Then you need to look at some other assistants attack/defence. There’s a few out there. I don’t want them to have anything with the club. Go get some outsiders, winners, surely Benji has good relationships outside of the ‘05 season?! Head of football needs a loo at too. Then potentially a halves coach. Benji was a heads up, instinct half. Get someone who can manage a game. Reynolds, Keary, Joey, Cronk, Cherry Evans, these type of halves. Get them working with latu. Give him the 7, Javon the 6, Doueihi you are 13 or go to Perth. If we can’t do any of this then seriously blow the shit up! Bring in relegation, gives us diehard supporters a year or two of relief so we don’t have to go through this week to week year in year. Do something!
 
Latu - Andrew’s - AD is a good set up , and Brailey can jump in at lock to spell AD if required , AD can also jump to centre if required , but Andrew’s And Latu need to be schooled by ex champs like Johns , Cronk , Keary , these guys will bring the best out of them , just pay the money HBg and start education for our players from quality teachers , Johns and Cronk both or either don’t care , my preference would be Cronk as Johns looks to have a bit of layer back attitude , Cronk has a brilliant footy brain , he could teach them attack and set plays like he and slater made in Melbourne , Bellamy would let them run a play if he liked it that’s it and most were given the go ahead
 
There’s no way Benji will get the flick. I think Benji’s contract is stacked with clauses and legalese forcing HBG to fork out what is probably a record severance payout in NRL history? Something around $3m plus.
Anyway, HBG have shown in the past that they want novices in jobs, so why payout Benji and recruit another Benji?

The Sharks have Halligan coaching Nicho Hynes goal kicking this yr and the guy is on track to break the most consecutive successful kicks record if he gets 3 more...from El Masri who was also mentored/coached by Halligan...do we even have 1 specialist coach for anything? Sharks are poorer financially than we are.

But will the faceless HBG Back Benji and his staff to bring in the required people like a Cronk,Slater,Keary to teach and pass on there experiences??

We at the moment can't get the very basic's of rugby league right.

Real question will Benji have the balls to drop Luai??

It's up to Benji to tell May when in the red zone. Do not call for the ball. Run decoys only.
Let's not waist a tackle with May's slow runs and slow PTB's when it should be all out attack.
 
Solution.

It can't be that hard to employ someone that knows how to run a team on the paddock, both attack and defence, there must be hundreds of them.

He/she could focus on this and help Benji implement it, it can't be that fricken hard!

And its been said over and over but Benji's support staff need a turnover.

Benji can oversee the implentation of it and other aspects of the footbal club, 'man manage' and motivate the team, thats what we've been told is his strength.

And what about recruitment, is Gallant up to it?

Ive heard that should he be sacked that there are no clauses and it will be a million per season ..his manager was clever during the one of many HBG disasters that they wanted stability after the Richo debacle that they agreed on this ridiculous extension. Could only happen at this happless joint
