That’s assuming you believe a 36y.o Alex Johnston and a rapidly declining Brian To’o will be better quality players than a 21y.o flying machine who is already proving too good for Qld Cup and will be in his prime by 2028 when PNG enter the NRL competition.

That run of Penrith kids was generational talent all as well. By the time they had got to first grade they had been playing together for 5-10 years in junior representative teams. It won't be like that forever for them. Thinking that we are going to have a JFH, Cleary, To'o, Edwards, Yeo, Martin et al all fall in our lap at once is insanity. That probably won't happen again at Penrith for another 25 years.

Parra have been waiting for there 80s juniors for 40 plus years.

You are applying a locals only example of people who had their salary reduced to NRL players.

Morning people, just after watching some of the games over the weekend, i have noticed that most of the teams have very good, big and mobile young forwards coming thru that look 1st grade ready... So my question is do we have anyone coming thru that fits that build as nobody jumps out at me at the moment at our club unfortunately.

Trust me. Mario will be doing plenty behind the scenes. It won’t be on him if Sam doesn’t stay. Mario has a very good relationship with Benji.

Other clubs never have problems putting players in the shop window; Contracts or not for early release.
Bula would be a great fullback for PNG.
