Do we even have a talent scout ? Or a recruiting team ? Anyone ?They have great talent scouting, excellent development and their clubs work towards one goal. The Dragons have the same and they will be strong next year. Our club appears not to be able or willing to invest resourcing in these important areas and we are beset by infighting. A new owner may have the capacity and willingness to provide additional resourcing to the areas. Until this is addressed imo we will struggle to lift ourselves from near the bottom of the ladder.
Someone always brings up Frizell and mentions leadership. I liked him as a player and his professional in getting himself ready for games is as good as anyone. But he is not a leader. He does not speak up in team meetings, he does not mentor younger players, he simply looks after himself. Not in a selfish way, he is supposed to be a great bloke. Just that he is very introverted and doesn't have any voice around a team.On the back of Brailey, I'd be going hard for Tyson Frizell on a 2 year deal (perhaps at the expense of Royce Hunt).
I'd actually pay a bit of 'over's for Frizell because the team needs his work ethic, training attitude & leadership. Yes he'll be 35 years soon but he's rock solid and fit as.
Frizell & Brailey bring what we need in the short term.
Samuela has elite potential but he is so far from being a great defender. As things stand he is one of the lesser defensive starting backrowers in the competition. To let Sameula walk makes no sense, after getting KPP , we have two great defenders and two get attacking players , our pack is solid, we just need 2-3 backup players , but not kids , hard working mongrel players who have 1-2 years left

I don't think he offers anything for leadership and I think he is past offering anything on the field.
I believe Roosters have already committed to a future with Savala at 6 and Bassingthwaighte at 1.I actually think Samuela and Latu will go to the Roosters, who are releasing 6 ex SOO players over next 15 months..Tedecso,Lenui,Crighton,DCE,,Watson and Tupou...thats almost $4mill worth of cap (to normal teams)
Targeting Samuela to replace Croghton is exactly what they need, and theres a gap in the halves for Latu who has been poorly managed by us...Robbo will promise more
Farnworth to be recruited for Fullback
...and they will still have $$ left to top up Sam and others
..and thats without cheating!!
..well,someone has to take over the incumbents Mustang leases.... and el cheao rents in Bondi!!
...
Sure hope yr rite...my point is they have a truckload of $$$ to spend...are desperate for a large high impact edge back rower..Foketi is just 97kgs. Wong 107kgs...I believe Roosters have already committed to a future with Savala at 6 and Bassingthwaighte at 1.
Also think Foketi and Wong will be there edges for some time.
I don't see Latu going to another club as a back up unless maybe behind an aging half. Both Sam and Foketi are equally capable playing through the middle so I wouldn't rule out them chasing Sam but as a package deal I'd think it very unlikely.Sure hope yr rite...my point is they have a truckload of $$$ to spend...are desperate for a large high impact edge back rower...and Latu will be lower $$ and worth a back up
Who knows...but Id be astonished if they went to PNG at this satege of their lives and careers
I find this hard to believe
Understatement of the Year
Exactly, how can the guys on the pod say Benji is all good if Doueihi is off cause of his mental health while the whole time Benji was trying to call him to convince him to play. Benji said he wasnt in the right head space, Shaun said he was the one who told Adam to go cause he saw he wasnt in the right headspace. Fine, so then why was Benji still trying to convince him to play. Or as i suspect its an excuse because Benji stuffed up the way he handled the team announcement thinking Doueihi would be suspended at the judiciary. Its option A or option B, option A Benji isnt fit to coach as hes demonstarted a total lack of man management and player welfare. Option b Benji isnt fit to coach because he buggered up something coaches in under 7s know. How to tell someone theyre being shifted to a new position. Either way Benji isnt the right coach. How can we like blind sheep just back him. I like the pod, i enjoy both guys takes on things i dont agree on everything, but on thos im sorry imo hes off his chops. Whats more worrying is if the mental health thing was just an excuse which iv no doubt it was, then Benji and Shaun have both looked the media and fans in the eyes snd lied through their teeth to protect Benjis inability to tell someone theyre playing somewhere else. Whos running the club. Is the guy who cant coach properly now also a ceo in training now, maybe he will be given that once he gets fired from this gig.Agree with the Mental health rubbish and all the rest, especially Luai's disruption and Latu's mismanagement. My other main concern is the continual reference to Doeee playing with a busted shoulder - um, then don't play him Bunji and get it fixed FFS!
Benji did do that in 2024 after his umpteenth comeback by resting him after the lopsided win vs Canberra and ADs magic try at the death. He got the shits back then which ought to have been a warning of things to come.
So Bunji should have trumped ADs Mental Health Card with the Coaches Bower killing Physical Wellbeing card which helps his mental health recovery as well!!
I think I remember he knocked us back at some point. Are you joking? He’s been close to the worst player in the NRL
Benji: “One of the things we found this year is we need to create a bit more depth”
Yeah, I think we need better starters also..... especially impact players off the bench.
Can Josese fill in at 13 if were desperate. Not just a body in a shirt though, like can he do a decent job. Just that hooking stocks look good but would be great if we could use Brailey and Josese at 13 if need be. Reason i ask is our depth is non existant so imo we need to look at guys who are versatile. Dont need blokes who are superstars, just guys who will do a job, tradesmen type players. If they can only play 1 position competently it makes it tough to build the depth.Hooker depth chart looks quite good now:
1. Api
2. Brailey
3. Haywood
4. Josese
Wouldn't be surprised if we saw Api come off the bench next year. 15/20 minutes either side of halftime to try break open the game. Brailey more of a strong defender solid service hooker then a creative running hooker like api.
Probably favour Brailey to start. Not a negative to Api just in terms of what they bring to the table.

There must be guys 22 - 30 on other clubs squad lists woth 20 - 30 games, though they are still a bit raw in N.R.L experience thats who i would be targeting, from teams looking to offload for capspace. No future superstars, just regular noname twal type players. Clubs wouldnt bat an eyelid to release them, theyre just theyre depth players and they are exactly what we need. Being raw shouldnt be an issue if our coaches next year know how to coach. We need better depth according to the coach … I hope something is being done to acquire it …
Brailey is fine for the no 2 hooker role which has been the biggest weakness in the squad all season in my view.. ..and obviously Averillo will push current starter Herbert into a depth role … this is a good start but 3 or 4 more need to be acquired externally in my opinion … guys with first grade experience already..no doubt money is tight and these guys will be similar standard to the likes of Bradley , Herbert and even Junior Tupou
