Roster Breakdown: 2024-2029

Wouldn’t even bother tbh Tom, they’re playing SuperCoach & can’t see why Roosters/Penrith pay less for their players versus us.
It’s simply called talent ID.
Nobody was paying anything more than the bare minimum for players such as Cody Ramsay and Matt Dufty as bother clubs wanted them.
The list goes on, Hugo Savaka was standing out in NSW Cuo for a solid 2 years and not a priority at the Roosyers until poor form forced them tingle him an opportunity which he took with both hands.
Prior tj tgat any team that wanted him could have lured him away from the Roisters with a small tol 30 deal.
The Roosters did not want Terrell, but we are now happy to pay him 1 million per season running the ball like a duck in gum boots. They did not want Junior Tupou even when they had plenty of injuries on their outside backs, but we were willing to take him back on a top 30 contracts.
Contrary tj he liked money talks with most players hence the reason PNG are securing sone high profile players.
The common sense way of spending big money up around the million dollar mark or over is only spending it on players who are genuine match winners and/or have the x-factor tj make things happen even when their team is struggling.
The players we continue tj spend this type of money ones not have any of those characteristics and then we wonder why our team struggles to score a point.

Who should they sign mate ..who will be prepared to come here ?

Start in 2028 as they are out of money next year I believe

He played one season in NSW Cup in 2024 and has been a regular in the NRL team since his debut in Round 2 2025

I don’t think we have hardly any money for 2028 either, particularly if we pay Samuela what he wants.
IF we were ruthless and set free some players we already have contracted to free up sone cap space, there are currently some very good, realistic recruitment targets for 2028.
We could replace Turuva with a much bigger, taller and considerably faster winger in Dominic Young who I believe is a very close mate of KPP.
Move Averillo to fullback while we sit back and wait for the next rising star fullback looking for an opportunity .This would allow us tn sign a genuine strike right centre in Campbell Graham who doubles as one of the very best defensive centres in the NRL.
Give our current contracted halves an opportunity to prove themselves before looking to spend huge money elsewhere, but I would strongly consider signing Ronald Volkman to replace Jock Madden. I really like Jock as a player, but do not think he has enough x-factor in his game to dig a team out of a hole when they are under the pump. The rising Volkman has shown glimpses of the x-factor he has throughout this season and has solid game management and kicking game to go with it. I think he would apply heavy pressure to our starting NRL halves and possibly displace them.
In the forwards we need more speed, so we need to establish if Douehi is willing and able to make a successful transition to 13 or if we have to find someone.
Although Tallis Duncan is killing it on an edge, he has previously shown he is equally as good at 13. With lack of quality 13’s he could transition back to 13 and be the best of that position in the game within a couple of seasons. It would take a massive offer to poach him him away from the Rabbitohs, but he is a player I would be willing to shuffle the decks for.
Then if Samuela is not willing to be fair and reasonable, go all out for Jacob Preston.
A back row of Duncan, Preston and either Samuela or KPP with the other moving to prop would be lethal and substantially more athletic to keep up with the fast paced modern game.
If we had to offload Terrell to free up cash, then so be it.

A reasonable summary … I doubt they are getting rid of guys they literally just extended though like Bula Turuva and May though … does Taylan follow his brother out the door I wonder ?

We also don’t know if the other guys would come to us .. I assume your plan would be offer overs to get them to come here ?

Where did this quoted money for Terrell come from V, Riccio or his D head mates.
He kept referencing the big money that team mates such as Luai was getttknb and was referencing the money the Dragons paid for Kalomatangi before he re-signed with us.
He was yet another signing that our management rushed into likely due tj fan pressure and it is certain to be between 900k to 1 million per season, I’m guessing it is closer to the 1 million mark to be in line with what Kalomatangi is getting.
At his very best you could possibly see him providing a bit of value for money, but I don’t think he fits the description of a player that will maintain the same quality as he gets up to age 30 and beyond.

I know it won’t happen so not a lot of point spending time discussing it, but as you say player connections within the group always have to be considered.
No doubt if we did choose to offload Terrell to better our forward pack as a whole, it would unsettle Taylan who would also likely want out, Taylan is a great player who we probably have not yet seen the best of, but he is not irreplaceable.
Similar with Jahream, I believe he is very close with Fonua Pole who I rate higher than most.

Another player that has fallen off a cliff …although he was
Playing well early in the season… it’s a similar story with Api

There has been limited confidence in the depth .., so the coach has elected to give some players way more minutes than optimum and they are out of gas at rhe back end of the season ..

I suspect Terrell May is on $900 ish come 2028 … that’s what he is on now plus 30 percent salary cap increase

If he only plays a maximum of 60 minutes per game and stops the half paced ball carries, he is probably worth 900k for the next couple of seasons.
When he plays like he has recently carrying the ball at half pace and arm grabbing in defence, he is not worth even half of that.

Have thought a lot about Terrell and the crap season he's produced, particularly in the last two 3rds of the season, maybe the rumoured back injury he suffered during last summer has relapsed.

Though you'd think if this was the case backing into the opposition wouldn't help.

He does not look as invested over the past 4-5 games.
It’s a simple game, run harder and tackle harder than your opponents and you win.
If Terrell is not prepared to do that for us, he is not much good to us.
