PNG Chiefs discussion

I still think they can use other sporting codes as a defence they should be sweet as long as emblem is different looking i cant see where NZ rugby have any argument
as an example
Richmond tigers
wests tigers
Richmond Tigers played in the VFA and were officially formed in 1908 as part of the breakaway VFL league. The game that we know as Aussie Rules was created to keep cricketers fit during the off-season.

Balmain Tigers were a founding club, and the NSWRL was also formed in 1908. It was based on the rugby and rugby league code that began in England.

Ultimately, they are two very different sports from two very different eras, and trademark and patent law was only in its infancy.

I’m not a lawyer, however I work in advertising, and I understand trademarks and patents.

They have a case.

Add to that one sport is governed in Australia the other New Zealand

I don't think they're playing all their away games in Hamilton. They're probably just going to play nz away games in Hamilton instead of Auckland.

It appears they’ve requested a mix between Auckland and Hamilton. However, the NRL will make the final decision.

I don’t think there would have been any issue if they’d stayed with their feeder club name, the Hunters.

This should be interesting, considering Michael Chammas has no idea what he’s doing.
