OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I have no idea to be honest. Our fanbase is right up there with toxicity along with the Bulldogs fans. They are probably more bandwagons whereas our fans are just depressed and have to take anger out on something
Yeah playing in the halves for the Tigers is a pressure cooker. Dialled up by the media scrutiny and a sensitive fanbase who spew vitriol constantly.

I was gonna say the same thing.

It's not just fans though. We didn't really do a farewell for him, we didn't thank him in the last game. Not just him, no one.

I think it's important to look at it from JLs side. In his own one sided way, he might think that he kept the clause there just in case, exercises it, told us he's going and gave us enough notice to go and hire someone else for 2028.

His on field performances for the last 3 weeks were absolutely shocking but before that, he was average. We put him in a position that he hasn't played before. It was a risk from both parties, and tbh it didn't work out for either.

Every player has the right to earn in TPAs as much as they want.

One thing for sure though is that he isn't a team player. It's all good to say out loud I love this team, team first etc. but when it actually comes to making sacrifices for the team, he hasn't.

He had to sacrifice that golf day. Other than that and his shitty performances for the last month, I don't think he has done that much wrong..And also don't forget, contractually we did more wrong than him. We asked him to leave a year early. He could've dug his heel in and said na I'm not going.

All parties have tried to do a lot of right but a always with us, it turns out bad.

Regardless, we as a club need to stop antagonising the departed .. It can't always be them

The social media stuff is the part that doesn't get me mad. I'm pissed at the lack of impact he has had on the field but the other stuff is a bit overblown. Such as his relationship with Benji and the players at the club which has zero evidence and all assumptions. The Galvin drama affected the whole club last year even after he left the building. The PNG decision in April was something the club approved for him to go to and the club has since moved him on a year early on his contract. It's mutual. The performances of guys like Terrell May and Bula for large parts of the season can't be blamed on one guy. Otherwise next year when someone is in a form slump who is going to be the fall guy then? Making excuses does nothing.

This whole thread is full of bitter and salty bogan clowns which is ironic. The guy no doubt was a failure and didn't do what the club paid him to do but you're all getting very personal with someone you probably have never met and wouldn't say half of this stuff to his face. The reputation of Tigers fans doing this to departing players such as Galvin, Brooks and Bateman is funny
Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge how funny we all are 😘.. im glad someone appreciates it

Well, there are contradicting narratives around this. Benny Elias was on NRL 360 tonight and stated he heard that the club knew he was going overseas, but were not aware that it was to PNG. Not taking it as gospel by any means, but if that is the case, then he really did the club dirty.

Lol. Greg Alexander thought i wouldnt say anything to his face either when Pasco was working out Clearys exit from the club. He was commentating a game that night on the Gold Coast. I was in a line at a store at Robina Town Centre and he walked past me, i saw him and did a double take cause i didnt actually think it was him, he looks at me and says i suppose you want an autograph. I said no i just wanted to tell you to go f yourself. He goes i beg your pardon. I said the only time ill speak to you is if i want to see if Ivan Cleary has an std. He says mate iv no idea what your on about. I said, if i ever want to know if Ivan Cleary has an std ill ask you to smell your breath. Until then you can get yourself f'd. The guy in line infront of me was crying of laughter. Alexander told me to bugger off and left. The guy infront of me says you a tigers supporter, im like yeah. He says i dont know why but somehow i could just tell.

No idea. Not sure how many people would go up to him in public and disturb him just because my favourite footy team continues to suck
He gets payed to play football. There are people who work 3 jobs with no sleep and just get by. Emergency services deal with horrors everyday. People have all lost loved ones. Single parents mothers and fathers breaking their back and going without to support their children. These are the real hard nuts of society. Muscles, tatts and playing footy means nothing. Compared to the vast majority of people these players have it easy. What do they do that is so difficult. Theyre that brain dead now that they dont even need to think anymore. The coach tells them how to play, assistant tells them what to do at training. Medicos tell them how to recover from injury. Dietician tells them what to eat and when. Meals are virtually all provided for them. High performance staff tell them where to focus their efforts and where their effort might be lacking. What do these guys do that is so hard. So why wouldnt anyone tell the upstart to keep his mouth shut and pull his head in.

Richo never said that .. Jesus Christ do you people ever let the truth get in the way of your narrative? Richo, the guy that was knifed in the back a year ago, said he believed our spine was as good on paper as any spine in the comp.. Benji is employed by HBG .. I’m sure he is well aware of the lack of self serving , incompetent D1ckheads he answers to, which is why he tries to separate the league team from them to the best of his ability . This fandom is freaking toxic, I can barely stand to read the nonsense, the duplicity, the absolute spite I see directed at our players and Benji so I understand why any origin class player would laugh at the offer to come here.. we want players loyal to the club but we show them all zero respect and loyalty.. Terell may has been incredible for us and yet morons on here call him pillow and soft and stat padder..ffs he tries his heart out every week..and he and his brother are the type that leave ot all out their fir the jersey.. their team mates LOVE them, they are the type of bloke you would want in the trenches with you, they would die for their mates and yet we put crap on them? The way so called fans talk about makasini is absolutely disgusting, the bloke is 19 and as soon as he shows some form we will be begging him to stay and stressing that we will lose him.. Jesus it makes me sick.. you get what you give and Benji is doing a hell if a Job imo .. Kpp and averillo running off some real ball plating halves and Heywood and api could be anything next year…give them some grace ..
It’s not often you get to read such a salty rant that is almost 100% wrong 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for the laugh champ.

I love how you periodically appear to call people bogans and spout incorrect nonsense….especially when you act like a bogan more often than others do.
Is there a word for a self hating bogan? 🤣🤣🤣 rugbygoated indeed.

Good on you mate that Brandy is a world class arsehole. I’ve been in rooms with him a couple of times. Arrogant doesn’t begin to describe him.

lol rubbish. If you play the game and try hard, you don’t cop “vitriol” on here. Due to decades of trash footy from our club, our fans can quickly spot a bloke who doesn’t have a go.
For example, Adam Doueihi was a forum favourite for most of this year, with even his “haters” admitting he was playing good footy. When he dogged the team, attitudes changed.

I'm invested in this club and team, so of course I hate Luai's time here and the way he's gone about everything.

But if I step away from all of that, if I see the game the way it is now - purely a business, one which is for a very short time and could be taken away from you at any moment... JL is playing this incredibly well. It wouldn't have been long before the Tigers got over him if he stayed, and his next contract would have been half of what he was on if he didn't take the PNG deal.

After a lot of premierships and loyalty at Penrith, he's maximising his earnings big time.

What incorrect nonsense have I dribbled? Your logic of me being a self hating bogan is similar to people who call homophobes gay

I am retired now after working for the same company for over 40 years what I do know is that if I could have earned close to 50% more dollars for another company doing the same job nearing the end of my working life I would have jumped at it.
People having a go at Luai for looking after himself and his family wouldn’t worry him at all.
It’s not his fault that these Clubs (Wests included) offered him an unbelievable salary that he couldn’t say no to.

With all due respect that stuff is totally irrelevant. It is not a competition. Of course I'd respect the people that put their lives on the line such as police officers, soldiers, etc over a professional athlete. None of his misdemeanours are as serious as people make them to be. If one's happiness is dependent on the win/loss ratio of their football team they have bigger issues in life. There's always that starving kid in Africa type of analogy one can fall back on, which is irrelevant to the initial discussion

Yeah I agree.
I don’t see the sense in hating this guy because he chose to leave us. That’s business in a professional sport. It leaves a bad taste, but it’s not abnormal.
I hate him and have for years because he is a yappy prick who sledges other players off the back of work done by his better team mates. Cleary breaks the line and puts Critta over for a try and Luai stands over the guy who missed the tackle screaming profanities at him.
He is also a very selfish player. Him playing in the 23 GF v Broncs when clearly injured was poor form. Even poorer form was that injury forced him from the field and he looked on with the jealous shits as Cleary and Crichton engineered a winning comeback. He wanted the glory. It’s always about him.
Likewise, him coming here was all about him. It was all about what he wanted to do, it was his time to be Batman etc etc…we paid him top dollar so he could prove to people that he was the man. Some of us saw right from the start that was never going to happen. He is not a serious enough footballer for that to have occurred.

The money grab didnt bother me and shouldnt bother any adult who need to provide for their family. But the trip to png post cowboys game and not turning up to the end of season awards are an issue.

I once heard Nathan talk about how jarome was the better player growing up. I reckon theres an element of jealousy that Nathan is the one who kicked on.
