You cant blame parents of smaller white kids not wanting them getting smashed by bigger islanders at the age of 12 or so.

Im in support of the weight for age concept but you can only play up or down one age group. So if you are deemed too big for under 12's you play 13's. Even if you are still the biggest in the 13's you wont be made to play 2 age groups up. If you are a tiny 15 year old, you play 14's but cant play 13's.

For a different perspective and without dismissing all of the above, my now 16yo son's union team won the comp/s with a very much predominantly white team that included many anglo girls. Seven of them approved to play in the 13's a few years back as there were no gender restrictions up to 12's.

Dispensations were/are also occasionally given to allow inexperienced and/or small male players to play in lower age groups when deemed appropriate, which benefited our numbers for a time with one boy.

We would have long not been able to meet the minimum numbers to field a team at all basically every weekend without them, and eventually folded as reigning premiers when more boys dropped out, including my son after suffering multiple dislocations due to congenital knee/patella issues.

Very few kids who start off in junior reps actually end up making a good living out of the game. So more and more kids are dropping out to peruse a more reliable living like a trade. Chasing a football career is a very hard gig with lots of pitfalls. I guess if the demand for players is increased through more expansion teams, kids may stay in the game a tad longer

But will he want to? Seems ok with holding a gun to WT head already with re-signing or not. If he is becoming troublesome, Im happy to let him go and replace with Nanai in second row and obtaining prop another way.

The reality he is not signing now despite offer and potential negotiation on that offer, Nov 1 coming up fast and ability to field outside offers. I know his manager is suspended at present but there are ways around that eg someone acting on managers behalf that both manager and player trusts.

Yeah I just heard on the local radio up here the other day that HBG have invested in the Mariners women’s team! Anything but rugby league apparently, they really have to go.

Carr was in the Balmain NSW cup side around 2009 - 2010.

I recall Carr was a highly rated assistant before he went over to England. My memory could be off but I seem to recall us making some enquiries about him previously.

We did a few years back I think. He was the Eels NSW cup coach at the time but got appointed as an assistant not long after.

Just wondering if there is anything on the site about Wests Tigers memorabilia or the best options where to purchase. I just bought a heap of cards of Diggaz. But I would rather put cash in Wests Tigers supporters pockets than business.

Yes at junior level teams in our day had one big forward to deal with and probably had very little mobility or footwork
Now you could face 5 big forwards just as big with mobility and footwork

Add a few backs with those same characteristics
Smaller kids with skills get totally outmatched at that level and become more interested in video games and or girls

Maybe they should look at weight divisions up to a certain age.

But is it any different than 90 kg Polynesian kids scoring tries at will against 65kg opposition.

I think the big difference champion @diedpretty is that in the junior ages, (1) weight versus weight is pretty unfair BUT (2) player versus player where one is years older and smarter doesn't just change the physical - it changes the technique and ability far greater.

I think though you can't expect kids to play against kids anymore than 2 years above them
I don't think they can cope with it mentally

Theyre not reacting so great to our current culture either..last last last 13th 16th

Something needs to change culturally...and its led by Benji who accomplished ..well..based on the above results..nothing
Were committed contractually to Benji until 2030...so need to add something differnt to the mix.Gotta work for all tho

Our players need a kick up the ass, Benji is way too soft and everyone’s best bud

I also think they should have a hard look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are giving 110% to team.
