Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I was in Dunedin a few years ago when they’d just finished the stadium . Looks spectacular & the clear roof is actually self cleaning .

The downside of taking a game there for away fans is that there’s no direct flights from Sydney to Dunedin . You’d either have to get a connecting flight or it’s about a 4hr drive from Christchurch or Queenstown .

Fun fact is the name Dunedin is the Gaelic name for Edinburgh & they conned a lot of Scot’s to move there in the 1800s thinking it would be like that . There’s a real Scottish flavour to the city .
Dunedin is a beautiful city in the Otago district. I recall a lady I spoke with in Dunedin referring to the UK as the mother country. There are many of Scottish ancestry in the city.

annoying thing is as a season ticket holder we only recieve 10 home games

Teams who do not elect to play a home game at magic round and this year a home game in New Zealand (Tamworth in the past) they get 12 home games
Not good value for money for wests tigers season ticket holders compared to teams that have 13 home games.

12 home games is the most for now , unless you are counting Parra fans that get our home game every year in addition to their 12 …half the clubs give up one for magic round so that’s a maximum of 11 for half the teams

Giving up the Parra game is most annoying though …

Could not agree more.

Only 21 years old and has played 20 first grade games while being asked to fill critical roles at fullback, half and lock (bit of bench hooker as well I think).

He has had some really poor moments, but he has also had some really encouraging ones. He has absolutely stood out in the handful of NSW cup games I have watched him play.

Not many 21 year olds with the diversity of experience and to my eye he continues to improve with each experience. I think 25+ year old Heath Mason is a very handy first grader and I think he isn’t the worst use of a bottom tier top 30 contract.
Yeah keep him around at the bottom of the 30, it'll pay off in a couple of years.

He reminds me of Connor Watson

If he was at a better club he would be number 14 filling in at hooker and 5/8 when needed

So we can give Mason a top 30 contract for a few years or contemplate getting him back in 3 or 4 years if/when he is good enough. Definitely the latter for mine.

I’m with you in the absence of something better which I can’t be sure Schiller is

He’s had some poor days for sure but remember he’s played in some pretty big hiding games when we were low on top liners

He’d look better in a team that’s firing which we all hope we will be given a fair run with injuries and no internal hand grenades like the Luai debacle this year
