Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You left out the most important, unrealized stat, getting the ball to the outside backs before he crowds them up against the sideline.

Doueihi hogs the ball too much, a trained Baboon would let the ball sing better than him.
I mentioned this in a reply to @Tito Santana, and the ball hogging needs to stop.

The reason Adam continues to want to play the hero every game is that he is only on $350K and wants an upgrade. Compare that to Fogarty's $700K contract, and Adam offers much better value.

Not only is he younger and cheaper, but he can also cover multiple positions and understands the Tigers system.

Anyone who thinks Jamal would be a good buy is kidding themselves.

I'm going out of the box for 2027 if I'm Benji ...

6 Javon Andrews (left) 7 Latu Fainu (right)

Give Latu the keys, let him be the dominant voice, develop a system that allows him to shift to the left side at times as well. Put trust & confidence in this combination with the experience of Api/Brailey out of dummy half. Javon to defend between Samuela & Taylan who are both aggressive defenders.

Depth half-back - Jock Madden
Depth 5/8 - Jake Averillo

Benji & coaches to have conversation with Doeuihi and playing where it best benefits the team utilising his strengths and imo it's AD using his versatility. Train him as a right edge to be able to play both right centre & rightside backrow but also at times to come on as an impact lock off the bench.

If AD knuckles down & commits to this, it solves a few of our issues plus gives us another attacking weapon. It gives us another right centre option if Averillo has to shift to 5/8 or gets injured. AD could be a weapon to cover backrow off the bench or as a middle after 30 mins.

Our 6-man bench could be ...
Doeuihi
Frizell
Sione Fainu
Brailey
1 of Mann / Seyfarth / Hunt
Someone for wing coverage

Just an idea!

Doueihi is in our starting 13 every week because he is one of our better players. There are few players in our team that can create or seize attacking opportunity as well as Doueihi does.

Fogarty is a better 7 than Doueihi and it is only for a couple of years @ a bargain buy condition needed, @Jolls said 2 years ago that Doueihi should be moved into lock and his recent performances seem like a logical move.

I get that Latu and Javon are the future but at the moment Javon's not proven ready yet, Latu well there's too many question marks over his fitness ability over a long campaign given his injury history.

Fogarty provides the fill in role until our future halves are proven ready to take over.

Jamal Fogarty is a specialist 7.

That’s what we need

Both you and @Tito Santana can't see the forest for the trees. Just like Tyson, Mann and Jayden, Jamal is not a long term option for the club.

We have to stop thinking in one year increments. If Benji continues to wheel in retirees, he'll be the first to go.
Hey you mess with RHS and you mess with me.

Like RHS said, "Fogarty provides the fill in role until our future halves are proven ready to take over."

Are we seriously thinking Latu will play a full season in the halves injury free? Please. Javon needs to develop his game in Cup. Also, we can't have two young halves it won't work.

So what RHS said makes a lot of sense.

Mess with you. Are you threatening me?

If Javon and Latu are locked up on long term deals then there is no issue on acquiring Fogs for a short term contract.
These young guys are the future but as we have all seen in the past you can be broken if put in too early ala Groat and you can benefit from waiting ala Harry Grant.

This might be a fair observation if he had only started playing selfish footy on his current contract. A few years back he was reportedly on about $650k and still playing the same selfish footy.

If I had to make up a reason why (other than him being a selfish player generally), I'd say it comes back to his high school days. He is one of the few regular first graders that didn't come through one of the top school programs. He didn't have the quality around him that most did, so he often would of had to go himself. This play has been ingrained in him to the point we still see it today (though I think more likely just a selfish footballer, rather than anything to do with junior days).

Mate, sometimes that guy can be a Leck head, he gets lit up and replies without reading and thinking about posts, most of the time I couldn't be bothered replying.

There is a reason Manly is shopping him around just one year into a three-year deal, and we need to stop taking other clubs' scraps. If anything, we should have focused on retaining Onitoni Large. We also have Josh Schuster as cover.

Didn’t they loan Harry out to some looser club to get him playing first grade when he wanted so he wouldn’t leave?

I'm not an Adam fanboy, but he makes more sense than Fogarty.

Adam ranks #93 and Jamal is #112. So why would we sign a 33 year old that Manly are trying to get off their books?
