Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'm not attempting to bore my fellow forum members with statistical facts... But Jamal Fogarty was the NRL's second highest point scorer in 2025. He scored 192 points. Canberra Raiders won the minor premiership by 4 points from the Melbourne Storm. Jamal Fogarty played in 24 games in 2025. He is a proven half back.
I struggle to believe that we aren't taking the opportunity whilst it is knocking. I get that we may be attempting to screw the Sea Eagles down on $ but we haven't been successful as a club since we had a genuine halfback like Scott Prince or Robert Lui. I'd be locking him up.

@king_sirro - thoughts? Or does BunganHead also have no idea like me?

Adam cannot cover positions. He can only play one position and that's 5/8. He cannot play centre or fullback. He can't play halfback. He won't play in the forwards.

He's a selfish player, that makes everyone around him worse. He has some individual skills but his body and his attitude is appalling. Ultimately he's a toxic player and needs to be released ASAP.
He can play fullback, center, both halves and wing. He can also kick goals.

Do you watch our game?

I don’t believe I made positive comments on the other three.

There is a lack of decent half backs in the game. Fogarty is one. Would enable whoever our six is to play accordingly and spread the ball wide.

Fogarty is 32. Still should have some miles in his legs. If it forces out AD so be it.
I don't think you understand my point. My concern is more about how the club is run and the direction it is heading in.

As a club, we have been doing the same thing for so many years without success. Something needs to change, otherwise we'll have exactly the same debate this time next year.

There has been one common denominator in our decline over the years, and that is HBG. In my view, they need to go. We cannot keep doing the same things and expecting a different outcome.

This is why we can't sign Murray, Mason and Sukkar. None of them can break a tackle. We already have players at 29 and 30 like Herbert and Roberts who can't break tackles and are on minimum. If we suddenly have 7-8 players on minimum who offer no value or versatility to an NRL side then we're effectively playing with a top 22 and a heap of NSW cup players
In theory I agree as we do have too many players that are plodders from an attacking point of view, but is that the fault of players on bare minimum contracts or players earning bigger money?
I like Charlie Murray as a player and I don’t think he got a fair go regarding getting enough NRL opportunities during the 2026 season, but I was surprised we had re-signed him to a top 30 contract as I thought we had replaced his 2027 top 30 position with Kurt Mann.
I also like Sukkar as a player and think he could be one that peaks around 24 years of age, but it is a concern we have not identified we need a back rower with a bit more speed and athleticism, so personally I would be trying to broker a deal where young Tony heads to the UK Super League to gain more 1st Team experience during the 2027 season and we have him re-signed to us for 2028.
As for Heath, the entire reason I still hold hope for him is due to his extra speed off the mark and tackle break ability. We all know he needs to make a big improvement to his defence, but that is no different to a large percentage of young players his age, so I’m happy we are giving him another season to further develop and hoping it’s more regularly in that 14 role of impact 13 or 9.

Caleb Navale - he will be worth double in 12-18 months time mark my words.
He has that point of difference we are looking for with that extra leg speed and physical presence.
A bit like a young Tyson Frizell in his playing style and that is certainly not a bad thing.
Manly are well aware of his potential, so I think they would be prepared to fight very hard to keep him on their books.

If those 3 players get NRL contracts then that should be the end of Gallant/Benji/Richards.

Inexcusable incompetence.

They are not NRL calibre players, even at the cheap end. Train and trial or development contracts, perhaps, absolutely under no circumstances can we afford to water spaces on players whom clearly have nothing to offer to the squad.
Sukkar is at the beginning of his development.... its well known front rowers mature later than other players...hes worth hanging onto

I'm sorry but he hasn't played well, or at a consistently first grade standard, in any of those positions and I've been watching the game for a long time. Jack of all trades and master of none. Certainly not a first grade halfback but he thinks he is.
We have short memories , he was far and away our standout attacking player in 2025 and early in the 2026 season many rugby league pundits were tipping him to play for NSW his form was so good.
I think 5/8 is his best position when playing alongside a halfback who takes control and even better when we have 13 who plays 1st receiver and is a genuine run or pass threat.

We have a lot of Da Vinci's in this team. Not just AD.

I'm fairly sure the Raiders will go with Black and Strange at 6 and 7 next year. That leaves Ethan Sanders, on good coin, either on the bench or in reggies. He won't like that and neither will the Raiders.
Think Strange could move to centre and allow all 3 to start.

He's an outstanding centre.
