Hi all.

Is there anywhere else in your life that you call someone an imposter? Or an imbecile? I call this or that out at games so often yet never use these words outside of a footy context.

I want your best rugby league insults, one liners and sayings that your non footy friends wouldn't understand.

Other examples

He's a myth
Lolly legs
Your eyes are painted on

One that would only make sense amongst fellow Tigers fans, if a forward ambles around not doing much, it gets called a "Groatesque" performance.

A phrase that I always enjoyed is when a player is "shortened" by a big tackle. Never heard that elsewhere.

The new favourite line of the WTF is Plodder….

The one i always find amusing, is the old one game at a time analogy, normally doubled up with not getting too far ahead of ourselves

Where else in life is it a bad thing to have the primary focus on the end goal, as well as the process to achieve it.

"They've been doing it all day ref"

Usually said in the first 5 minutes of the game.

Get Em Onside you cheat…repeat every time Wests Tigers have possession...

My favourite when we are getting penalized , changes on who we play

This week it will be "Take your blue and white jocks off ref "

"they have been doing it all game" 5 min into the match

"I dont rate anyone who hasnt put there head in a scrum"

one of my favourites standing at marker "will your sister be coming out tonight"

Did you actually make a tackle Watto ??

Yeah so true

Well not really , when the pussy halves standing in front of you step out of the way of the rampaging back rowers and props and leave it to us fullbacks …....

In another thread we were talking about Jason Twist , did you play with him at the GC ??

Hey Watto, You are probably like me and when halves had to transition from defending behind the line as a covering rover to having to defend in the front line. Worse change in footy ever, went from making 4 or 5 side on covering tackles a game (usually with excellent kudos given for each tackle) to having every forward in the comp trying to run over the top of you, and getting blasted for not bringing them to ground….
I might be still playing if I didnt have to tackle!

I didnt mind defending in the front line. It was tighter too as we still had inside and outside centres switching sides in the defensive line.

I think the transition was bought about with the split forward structure mid-late 80's?

In the BRL, the forwards still played together until the early 90's.

WIngers are tough now, they even take hit ups off taps and scrums….wouldn't happen in my day!

That was the funnest part of the game for me Goose!

"He couldn't tackle his way out of a wet paper bag"
"White line fever" - Although this could apply to some other aspects of people's lives :smiling_imp:
