I'd like to start a thread where we address weekly the sub concious bias we see against lower teams by officials. In no way am I saying it cost us today, we deserved to lose. However we need to do something. We know journos read the forum and we have to start calling this stuff out. Start a campaign.

The dogs were hammered last night, and then today we lose every 50/50 call until the game is over, then we start to get them.

The hip drop no sin binning is simply disgusting. If that was against the team favoured to win he is gone to the bin 100%. But because it was against the team expected to lose it doesn't happen.

Same with the Sezer stripping rule. If that's Canberra they stay with the onfield decision.

Not to mention the worst of the lot, and that's the play by play 6 again calls. They always go unnoticed but they are the real cheating bias in place. 6 again for the favoured team for no reason while the unfavoured team get held down much longer for no 6 again. It's blatant game manipulation by offals.

This is not a Tigers thing, let's start highlighting all games that have this. It will never end until it's continually called out.

we have never had a coach strong enough to call it out in press conferences. That would help, just like Payten showed. I'm baffled why we don't take a 10k fine and make a real statement about it. It's turning me off Rugby League.

So please, after any game you feel this bias has happened, highlight it here.

We definitely got the wrong end of the holding on for too long penalties. Seriously, it was hard enough to bring them down , ref so slow to call held then blowing penalties. 😮‍💨

A large Freudian Slip calling the officials "offals" but it is one i completely agree with, they really seem to use confirmation bias every week

It happens every week. We hold on for 3 seconds and get penalised, opposition hold on for 4 seconds and nothing.
Maybe the calls go to the team that manages dominate the ruck.
A lot of the six agains were when our players clearly couldn’t control the tackle and we rightly penalised by trying to slow down the momentum.
Our players still aren’t switched on. Even our star players walk when in other sides that would be jogging to the next job.

Maybe, but definitely not. It's blatant and well known. Just starting to gain traction in media here and there but need to enforce it further.

Been dealing with this bullshit since Hollywood Harrigan made up a rule to penalise Bruce McGuire for a "defensive shepherd" to change the momentum of the 89 GF!!!

That was the start of the rot...

1963 the ref bet against Wests in the Grand Final as confirmed by Jack Gibson who was heavily involved in S.P. bookmaking, to his teammates, in the dressing sheds BEFORE the game.
Now that was the start of the rot.

Yes - Darcy Lawler and the bias in the St George era has been well documented,

But this topic relates to confirmation bias thoughgout the media & refs ranks.

Harrigan was the first media sweetheart - just for making dud calls that enabled "the game to flow" according to some dopes writing in the rags!

The refs since him referee to an expected result - and are blind to infractions from the favourites.

It's a systemic issue!

I'm surprised that a member of parliament has never bought this up, and asked the Minister for Sport for an explanation.

Agree 100%, the Stefano penalty was pathetic, he calls held as they’re in the momentum of pushing him to the ground. It’s a joke, the games a joke and really puts me off watching it. I agree with u it most likely didn’t cost us the game, but it was 2-3 try’s worth of pathetic calls by all the offals.
The piggy back penalties and 6 to goes gave the raiders the game.
Like u say payten called them out in it, and they’ve had the rub of the green since. Man up bunji and call them out in it. You don’t mind opening your mouth on other crap and putting the pressure on yourself and the team.

It's the worst rule come into rugby league, referees can call it as many times in a game and never questioned about it
