Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

On the fence, depending on how much and how long the Dragons will contribute. Really only any sort of priority if WT have no decent goal kicking options.

I can see Parra offering Matto for Lomax, which I think dragons would take. Otherwise I think he'll end up at by the roosters given all the backs they're losing.

I saw they're wanting an outside back or hooker BB...
The figure $2.4 for 4 years as well. Much too much!

CC: @Tim Sheens (not sure if it was mentioned earlier)

Too early to be writing Bud off in my opinion. I agree he looks down the pecking order, but surely too early to call it.
I'd much rather the current situation of Bud/Fainu as the second-choice halves rather than Brandon Wakeham. Sezer hasn't got years left in him; even if Bud is a backup off the bench it's still a good option to have a genuine half in reserve.

Yeah time will tell. I'll just say one more thing at this stage, though: I'd be extraordinarily suprised if a club that's desperate for a half prioritises squeezing another 100k out of the Tigers. I keep saying this: 500k is nothing for a first grade half. All it takes is one club to think Sullivan can be that (and, again, he'll only be 23 at the start of next season) and we have the leverage. If anything, we should be dealing from strength - start by asking what they're going to give us.
lol you assume he’s a first grade half …

He was shocking in the first game

If he has another shocker than he’s a dud

All those other players you mentioned won’t be on $500k and if they are - Hutchison and gamble and cogger etc … were all playing well for their teams when they got bought by other clubs

Sullivan was considered lazy at the dragons , he played lazy for us, the only way e have leverage is if he plays like a $500k player - which shouldn’t be too hard but he’s first game was absolute rubbish.

If he continues to be rubbish he’s worth $350k max.

He’s actually a liability to another team.

The only way it plays out the way you think is if he plays average to decent football but so far that’s yet to be proven.

It's the exact opposite of entitled: he's backing himself to do better elsewhere, abandoning the security of a guaranteed deal to get what he can based on his skills. Entitled would be staying there on 800k and demanding to play in his preferred position or cruising on the wing.
Disagree. The Dragons have looked after him and no one would argue his loss will weaken their team especially in the current market. He's put his own interests before that of the team. I also question whether any player would give up that amount without having a contract on the table. This is even more the case with the $ he would want. Clearing cap space to buy him alone would be a challenge at short notice ...............

Leaving $800k a year with a guaranteed wing spot and a coastal lifestyle? It seems a bit entitled considering he hasn't established himself as a rep player.
Off to the slugs I feel , deal probably already done for $ 750 k and a chance to play centre in a team up the top end of the comp , not the bottom

You can call anything entitled if that's what you want to see. The bottom line is he's backed himself to do better elsewhere. I'm not calling him a hero for that - some might see it as greedy - but it's not what I think entitlement looks like. Besides, the Dragons didn't have to agree to release him; they didn't for Ben Hunt, for instance. Seems to me that it takes two to tango.

Got to say:

I was wrong about Sezer. Totally wrong.
I had thought he would turn up like many returning EPL players. Unable to cope with League, heck I actually liked him when he was here with the Titans etc.
The guy has been outstanding for us. Sure not as good a halfback as say Reynolds/mm/Cleary/DCE... But an actual halfback and a better fit then Hastings and others we have had.

I was dead set right about Justin Olam.
Man the guy is a joy to watch. $450k from Melbourne for a GUN center.
We truly needed an upgrade on our backline and Olam just fits the bill. So good to watch him play.
You see how under-appreciated Api is, giving good ball to all the players around him and so few make use of it.

Api sees Olam -> try time.

Such a difference with these two in our squad
Everytime Olam takes a carry he hits it up from the back fence, we havnt had that in years I love him.

Next year i would have. 7.Luai, 6.Galvin.
14.Fainu / Bud and a minimum deal to keep Seizer incase Luai goes down. But I think Bud might not fit into the squad. Only cause of needing to upgrade Galvin at some point we can't carry 2 x 500k players in our halves who aren't playing regularly. That's just me. Also guys might be willing to take unders to play togeather. So it might be ok but I just think someone is leaving in the off-season and Seizers contract isn't big enough to provide much relief.

I can’t wait to see Brooks Wakeham for Manly. That’s going to be hilarious!

Douhei is gone. Get rid of Sullivan too. Retain Sezer on like $250k and then buy another gun outside back. Oh, Tito
