Next weeks team v dragons

1. Bula
2. Naden
3. Olam
4. Faataape
5. Staines
6. Sullivan
7. Sezer
8. Stefano

12. Seyfarth
13. Pole
14. Simpkin
15. Kepaoa
16. Twal
17. Sione Fainu (if fit)/Matamua

I like this team, i see a player in Sukkar. Hopefully towards the end of season he can be in contention for a backrow/bench spot if Bateman and Ice are unavailable

See your point but only way Matamua comes in is at 13. Hells bells we bought a few halves plus Galvin, so no real need to try and turn what’s seems to be a mediocre forward ( despite his own fan club) into a 5/8.
We paid overs for Sullivan so now we’ve got to get him up to the point of repaying it. His coach was a fair 5/8 so wouldn’t he be the one to sprinkle his magic dust.
Matamua played all his junior football at 7 has a kicking game and a nice pass won a junior title playing 7

That may be so but he has done nothing in firsts to show he’s knocking on the door. Not sure we need to look that left field just yet .
I know he has a cheer squad on here but I’m still to see it. ( not saying it’s not there, just that I haven't seen it).

If Sam Fainu, Latu and Bateman are all out:

1. Bula
2. Staines
3. Faataape
4. Olam
5. Tupou
6. Sullivan
7. Sezer
8. Utoikamanu
9. Koroisau (c)
10. Klemmer

12. Kepaoa
13. Pole

14. Simpkin
15. Seyfarth
16. Twal
17. Matamua/Sione Fainu

I would like to see Pole back on the bench as impact bench. Not sure he’s really cutting it as a 13

What’s the deal with Porter in cup? He’s been pretty good from the limited reserves I’ve been watching. Is he in line for an nrl spot?

Naden somewhere in the backline would be handy, we need his pace but if we replace Tupou we lose his strong yardage carries out of trouble. Couple headache selections for Marshall

Hopefully how each player performs tomorrow in NSW Cup goes a long way to determining who gets the NRL call ups next week.

They should be hungry to play NRL, lift and play hard today. Issue I have is they should be every week not just because we have injuries.

I don’t see an NRL player in Sukkar especially as a nrl backrower he would get eaten alive.

Usually as a one off a big body at 6 can do the job. I suggested Matamua at 6 last year so I'd be happy to try this. Also happy to throw Naden in at 6 who killed it when moved to 5/8 last week. Naden has a great long kick on him. I like the bigger body at 6 for this game, defence is going to be key. Centralise our attack around Api, Sezer and Bula.

Have to say, I've been really underwhelmed with him. I was expecting much more. Is he carrying an injury? Unfit? I hope he gets it sorted, soon!
We don’t have the depth but I wonder if he is better suited to 13. Almost identical build to Pole. His front on contact is generally quite strong but struggles with lateral movement.

Generally like two talls and one shorter middle at any time and he could give us that (Klemmer, Stef + pole starting and Fainu, Twal + papilii on bench - no ball players there though).

Blake Austin mentioned a while back that some coach in the super league likes his halves to play like extra backrowers and that's why Brodie Croft wasn't succeeding in that team.

Could be an approach until Galvin is back.

Please NO Sullivan..

Would rather run with Api at 7 with Sezer in 6, Simpkins at 9 and TDS at 14. (providing Latu is out)

Sullivan is hopeless and comes across as a player worried about HIS performance and not the team. Hogs the ball and tries to do the fluke plays way took often.

Sorry this does not fit our new game plan IMO

Every time Ive seen Matamua play his D in the middle has been very weak. He is not aggressive enough for NRL and I don’t think he could handle the Dragons pack. AJ will get promoted and Seyfarth likely to start. As for the 14, i think Simpkins if fit should play this week against Dragons (rather than TDS). Use him as dh when Api needs a break during the game.
I think we have to play Sullivan at 6 one more week especially against Dragons although I don’t think much of him as a player.
Latu didn’t get enough time on the field but from what I saw he’s a kid who loves to mix it up and is still growing into his body. He could well end up a 13 if Galvin doesn’t.
The talk about having too many halves, especially considering the ages of 3 of them in Galvin, Latu and Sezer, is absolute rubbish.
