Thought Votano was awful.Thought he and the fullback were the best of the backs
Jesus Christ.He’s very rated here…
I don’t see it happening for him,
He’s small, not quick has a bit of a carry - but he’s hardly a To’o or Utai…
I'm still bullish on his potential at centre. He didn't get a single opportunity in the opposition 20m. Everytime NSW had the ball on the left it went to Halangahu or Buchanan who took a run.
Halangahu is gun, he will be a star. Buchanan is seriously overrated. He's another Feledy, looked good in junior grades because of his aggressive run style but won't mean anything once he plays against grown men.
Was hoping Luke and Votano switched at some point to give Luke a go at fullback.
Plenty of people rate Luke as a future winger because of his build but literally all of his best games at NSW Cup and junior level have been at fullback. Hes a decent winger, but an elite fullback. Hopefully he can develop into an elite Winger over time.
No chance the Bulldogs will look at either of the Laulilli brothers, they have trended into being very body shape and skill set specific on the players they sign.him and his brother will get multiple offers from other clubs if he goes to nov 1 , you’re underestimating how much clubs are on the look out for young talent . it’s not abt him being in their NRL team he’s very young they’ll be focused on developing them . dogs , manly , bears , dragons would all have a look at Luke and kit .
Yeah agreed. I like him. Some who are talking down Luke will be the first to be angry at the club if he signs elsewhere. The kid is 18 and has been coming along really nicely in Cup and has not looked out of place in first grade on the whole. He is a great prospect (although he is just a prospect at the moment).
I was underwhelmed with Wood the 1/2. All the hype etc. Outplayed by the QLD 1/2.He didn't get a single opportunity in the opposition 20m. Everytime NSW had the ball on the left it went to Halangahu or Buchanan who took a run.

I kept thinking if he is paired with Galvin, it will be a hogathon.I was underwhelmed with Wood the 1/2. All the hype etc. Outplayed by the QLD 1/2.
Hogged the ball too many times trying to go it alone and score. The backline had no chance to shine.
If he can catch contested bombs, he would be way ahead of Mason at fullback.Luke L has been developing nicely this season, but it should be no rush to re-sign him long term just yet as which rival club would currently have him in their NRL team ?
As myself and quite a few others keep saying, he’s a wholehearted player who always rips in and does his best, but but he doesn’t have any real weapons to his game other than his strong , whole hearted ball running.
He’s one of our local boys done good so we are obligated to keep developing him and find out what his best position is, but it’s not going to be a situation where we are fighting off big money offers from rival clubs at this stage.
Additionally, the people saying he is 'slow' are hilarious. Some who are talking down Luke will be the first to be angry at the club if he signs elsewhere. He already is.If he can catch contested bombs, he would be way ahead of Mason at fullback.
To'o got out jumped in the SOO game for a try, lets not forget!Maybe a jump coach to fend off the tactical bombing he’s gunna get.
But like with all our juniors I hope he makes it.
Gun!
Nah, there was a mandate a while back when the PNG NRL deal was announced that every club can add 2 PNG players into their squad outside the salary cap. This would be 1 of them.club seems to be casting the net far and wide for it's backup half slot.
High heels?Let’s be completely honest …,Luke’s weakness is his height and taking high balls …he is going to be getting bombed all his career .., so I hope he is working on this as a priority
Your mind is going back to the Brooks/Johns comparison G think it scarred all of us for life.Has it ever worked out for a young player when they have had a label placed on them? It’s almost like a kiss of death.
When he plays for the Tigers I’ll suggest a jump coach for him too. To'o got out jumped in the SOO game for a try, lets not forget!

Shame to lose him....Wests Tigers rising star Tallyn Da Silva has been given permission to negotiate with rival clubs immediately after interest from Newcastle.
The talented hooker has been granted permission from the Tigers which will allow him to test the open market despite his contract ending at the end of next year. Da Silva was free to chat with rivals from November 1 but the move has been fast-tracked following a surprise overture from the Knights.

A raft of discussions in the past 72 hours included:
* Newcastle originally looked to loan Da Silva for the rest of the season to help deal with their growing casualty ward in their forwards.
* Talks progressed to a potential immediate player swap between the Knights and the Tigers which would see Da Silva arrive at Newcastle on a long-term deal. The Tigers are open to securing back-rower Kai Pearce-Paul. Pearce-Paul has already agreed to join the Tigers from next year on a three-year contract. Both parties are considering this.
* Da Silva’s agent has asked for and been granted permission to speak with other clubs, not just the Knights.

NRL 2025 RD06 Newcastle Knights v Wests Tigers - Tallyn Da Silva
The Tigers have already been told that Da Silva will leave the club should they re-sign co-captain Api Koroisau.
Both hookers are off-contract at the end of the next year and the Tigers have already met with the players. There is a belief that the Tigers are torn on which player to keep. At just 20, Da Silva is considered a decade long player and is a local junior.
Koroisau is still among the best players in the game but will be 33 by the time his new deal kicks into place.
The situation differs to that highly publicised fallout between Lachie Galvin and the Tigers with Da Silva wanting to remain at the club – provided he is their no. 1 hooker.

Where does Phoenix Crossland fit at the Knights going forward? Picture: Getty Images
The Knights’ pursuit of Da Silva is an interesting one given Kiwi rake Phoenix Crossland has re-signed until the end of 2028 while Matt Arthur is also contracted to the club until the end of 2027. Long-term hooker Jayden Brailey is Canberra bound at the end of the season.
If Da Silva does sign with Newcastle it may mean Crossland plays more lock given the Knights are struggling to find replacements for a host of forwards departing at the end of the season. Pearce-Paul, Brailey and Leo Thompson will all move on while Adam Elliott, Jack Hetherington and Tyson Frizell face uncertain futures.
Da Silva had been relegated to NSW Cup in recent weeks but has been recalled to the bench to take on the Raiders on Friday night.
