I would assume that’s not too dissimilar to how most coaches operate, but it’s certainly not ideal as I think a good coach should be capable of working hard with players who lose form, confidence, fitness, discipline, motivation etc and at times turning it around and getting the very best out of that player.

Depends if you think they’re capable of being what you need. The Bulldogs turned over nearly their entire 30 man squad and Benji is probably thinking he needs to do something similar.

That might be more feasible if we didn't already win multiple wooden spoons before Benji became coach, and failed to make the finals entirely under 6 previous coaches.

The real problem is Wests Tigers and the solution is... god only knows, because we've turned over basically every rock and the team has the same output and results we've had since 2000 bar 3 miracle seasons.

I remember speaking to Chee Kam about Madge a few years back when Chee Kam moved on to Souths.

He didn't really like Madge and felt he was too rigid and didn't really connect with the players. In terms of game planning and training everything was fine and they felt prepared but he wasn't open enough to what the players suggested.

Unfortunately Chee Kam's suggestion was always "give it to me on clutch plays".

Im loathed to say he wouldn’t make it in another side, cos look at guys like Garner, Eisenhuth, Pauga. Some real plodders that have been in our team the last few years. And they went on to play elsewhere. At top clubs no less. There’s just no hope for average players to stand out or improve in our system. That’s why I’d never say never that some other club couldn’t pick up a Seyfarth off the scrap heap and give him the right role.

Sack the coach is Pascoe 101. I didn’t realise he had such a strong following.

Remember seeing flicks of them all out most weekends.

6 First grade teams and played for Italy.
He did something most of us wish we could do.

Garner was never a plodder, he was just in a bad team. Not a star, but a decent NRL player. A second rower who, at one time, was our best centre option. I'd take him back now to play 13 at $400k.

It’s not one or the other, it’s a little bit of everything.

No doubt coaching could be better but last weekend it was errors from kids that put us on the back foot.

That goes back years to when we made a snap decision to become a development club again.

The only way is to fix everything gradually.

Surely everyone who watched our game against Manly last Friday night would agree Seyfarth was clearly one our best 3 players and made an impact as a middle forward off the bench ?
As I stated earlier it really depends on how much we are paying him to determine if he’s providing us with good value or not, but when he starts on the bench he more often than not comes on and makes a positive impact.
It’s not his fault we didn’t recognise that we lacked speed and quality on our edges and left him as virtually our last man standing as our starting right edge back rower,
Even though he lacks the speed and quality to make much of an impact on an edge, if he was on one edge and an elite back rower such as Viliame Kikau, Liam Martin, Hudson Young, etc was on the other edge, it wouldn’t be so much of a problem as he’s solid and does his job if nothing else.
All rival teams have at least one if not multiple attacking threats on their edges, no fault of any of our edge back rowers or centres individually, but as a combination we without doubt have the edge with the least attacking threat in the competition.
I keep saying it, but if we fix this problem we would go a long way towards obtaining much better results.
