LIVE GAME Round 26 v Raiders

Live Game Discussion
Have complained about this for a while but today's game is the best example of my complaints
1. no constructive kicking game
2. poor tackling. poor reads in defence.
3.lack of options in the final attacking area.

We need to hire a tackling coach, kicking coach, strength coach.
A proper 7, and not 5/8’s who wanna be 7’s, will fix 2 out 3 issues on ya list.

All of Ricky’s whinging over the years has finally paid off, I don’t think the Raiders got a bad call all season!
Again the team that they ( the refs ) want to win won , laui penalised for tackling the 1/2 back while he had his feet on the ground , watched all the games so far this weekend , not one other player got done for that , Bula got done for jumping to early , what a load of rubbish , the lower clubs need to get together and demand a far shack , it’s becoming comical

Raiders have one of the best forward packs in the comp and we've gone close in both games this season... Not sure why we can compete with them, but were completely blown off the park by Melbourne and Penrith... Is there something about their style of play?

Really liked our physicality again. Just about every tackle we hit them and pushed them back. Sione fainu, Samuela, Latu, the mays all love hitting. Sione was at one stage defending our line was laughing at Canberra and hitting hard, I love that confidence and intimidation.

In years passed it's been Stefano, Klemmer, Twal as our lead defenders and all of them seem focused on being as gentle as possible.

The thing I like most about how this team has progressed is the way they play with aggression. Taylan has been huge in lifting the team that way.

Bula continues to be more and more influential. While it didn't come off much in first half, I love how often he ran and had the ball.

As others have said, we lost because of last tackle options. We did not handle the second half wind behind us at all. Both API and luai took way too many poor last tackle options.

There are so many arbitrary decisions in rugby league these days. I hate how intrusive the rules have become and how random the enforcement is. Really poor.

It's a week to week issue. If not, we could be in top 8. Just so inconstient. Can't win 3 in a row.

Yeah you're probably right.. and I guess we require everyone to be fit, otherwise there's not enough depth...

Whilst Pole dropped that ball over the line, he was better today than he has been in weeks gone by... Its taken him a while to find his feet after the injury.. hopefully he can take his game to another level next year...

I went to GIO Stadium today.
Few things I noticed…
1. We were very poorly disciplined in the ruck. Ruined our own momentum on more than a few occasions with head highs or holding on too long.
2. For decent passages in that game we were all over them and they were gasping for air but then we’d let them off the hook Ala point 1.
3. Latu and Bula do not straighten our attack as much as I thought they may do. Both of them run on an angle I’d describe as shit….(55-60 degrees) it kills a lot of half chances.
4. Our pigs matched this very good Raiders pack. They really muscled up and had a go. I was proud of them and most Raiders sitting around me were very complimentary of them.
5. We have no idea whatsoever in attack and I mean we have NO FKING IDEA 🤣. We literally throw as much shit at the wall as possible and hope some sticks. There’s no plan, no shape no organisation. No one is leading at all it’s just suck it and see and individual brilliance took advantage on a couple of occasions. Our tactical kicking sucks and again is just ad lib trash. The Raiders had clear plans and you could see their halves directing everything. They executed a bit clumsily but you could certainly see what they were trying to do.
6. Our boys are tough. They play for each other and don’t give in. If we can foster this seize mentality further, they’ll be hard to beat as even though they are running around like headless chooks, they worry the hell out of defences as they just keep coming at you.
7. Ethan Strange is going to be one serious player. I’ve been a fan for a while and talked him up a lot last year but bloody hell, seeing him live is something else. Amazing stamina and determination. Tough as hell….that hit Skelton put on him shook the stadium and he bounced up laughing. Always on the ball and always moving across in cover. Great player.
8. The Viking Clap followed up by the Green Machine is a great advantage to that club. The stadium is pumped and the atmosphere electric. It must be an amazing feeling running out to that.
9. Canberra really celebrated their minor premiership well. They deserved the accolade and most of the crowd stuck around for the presentation of old JJ.
10. The Tigers players all went to the small supporters bay at the southern end after the game and thanked them. It was good to see.

Thank god tuck that you only noticed "few things".

Really proud of the effort and the way we played - would have been pretty easy to just take the foot off the gas after the disappointment of last week.
That disruptor call I don’t - commentators say he withdrew his hands which made him a disruptor as he wasn’t going for the ball to disrupt him from catching it. His eyes were only ever on the ball.
Turuva love ya but if you’re gonna give lip you gotta back it up - an air swing and a knock on led to tries. Maybe zip it and just play the game
