Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Apparently Radley is on 700k a season. It would be good business by the club to pick up his contract for 500k and add a missing piece to the team. He doesn't seem.like the kind of player to come to us though...seems like a bit of an Easttard...Manly next destination is my tip.

I don't understand how anyone would want Radley, when I'm sure Roosters were just waiting for an opportunity to get rid of him.

As many have said, he's a head knock away from calling it quits. He gives away plenty of penalties, and is good for at least a couple of suspensions a season. Good player, but he'd have to be great to ignore the other stuff.

I feel if we signed radley we would need someone constantly waiting in the wings to play 13, Sione or Adam. I personally love the signing bit of mongrel in the pack is what we want and a ball playing lock matches the style we like/want to play.
Barring suspensions and concussions i think he makes our team a top 8 team. Has been a staple of arguably the best pack in the comp for a number of years. Felt he was getting pushed out anyway when they started playing him at 2 row.
Id give him 500k, believe he is on something like 750k at the moment but after getting cut your value goes down dramatically.

Yeah he’s another like Nelson. He’s one of the most penalised in a team that’s gets the rub of the green from the refs, imagine how often they’d penalise him at the Tigers?
He could be a good stepping stone player for us for 2 years, and him. I’d bet quids a team like Perth would pay good money for him no matter how beat up he is.
Yikes imagine Radley and Seyfarth in the same team lineup, we could blitz the sin bin record for a season, oh the horror, the horror😮.

Remember watching an interview of his a few years ago on Matty Johns where he said he tries not to go out "there" too much, referring to the West.

He's a stuck-up Eastie, won't be coming here

Get rid of him and upgrade the young forwards that's what they will do and put all the blame on him and away the other 6 players that had the party with him

I really like Radley as a player and wouldn’t be opposed at all to him as his ball playing skills alone would do so much for Luai/Latu plus his defensive ability with his line speed is such a bonus.

However I’m really excited to see AD get a full preseason in the lock position with Latu probably going to the be 7 next season. He has just re-signed on a decent sized deal so struggle to see where he goes if we bring in Radley.

I have high hopes for AD I think he’ll go excellent next year and continue his late season form

That’s the thing though mate . Even though I’m 90% sure AD will move to 13 and be first drop for Latu , maybe even come off the bench , people will scream to cows come home he should be miles ahead of Latu. Especially the Lebanese community . Who are very loyal to AD . Which is fair enough IMO.
I think Radley is exactly what we need . He can share time with AD, allow the team to play direct whilst he’s on , and more expansive when AD is on , it provides cover , and Radley has the fastest PTB in the comp . A May/Makasini, Turuva , T May , Radley, out of yardage would just be consistently difficult for teams to dominate .
The PTB is the big one for me . Soo many of our players struggle to find their front/ have poor ball control around playing the football because they haven’t adjusted to a return to the old school cup the ball and roll , rather than the 2010s plant the ball as you get up way .
For me , I know a lot of the fanbase are yammering on about guys like NAS, but I’d much rather a nuggety type who hits hard and pushes through contact whilst also finding his front , like Radley .

think Radley would be long odds to land at Concord.

if he opts to remain in the NRL the Dragons have a shitload of money to spend on a 13 and we were already committed to AD playing there as per @teddy23 . even then I think it's pretty unlikely he remains in Oz, feel like he's the kinda guy that wouldn't want to play against the Chooks ala JWH & Manu.

Apparently he’s signed until end of 27 on about $750k. I can’t see chooks tipping in much of that, due to his high demand.

Gee the Tigers will again struggle in 2026 if KPP is considered a notable signing. He comes to us from the team who finished with the Wooden Spoon. I have no wrap on him.
He's a very good back rower. He was just at a team who send everything in attack left for Ponga. When he actually gets ball he has a wicked offload and defensively rarely misses. And despite Newcastle going left, still went looking for work and averaged over 100m per game

I’m still not 100% on Radley , I see our problem was once we got into our opposition 10/ 15 mtr area we just could not put points on we looked lost , no organisation , no set plays , we missed AD in last few rounds and I feel he could have made a difference in those games but AD at 13 and a good 7 is where we need to go , KPP. Will help but Latu I’m still not sure if he is the wiz kid , we also need attack coach like Cronk , that’s where I think we need to spend money
Cheap forwards will be available shortly ,
We looked better in those games where Douehi played 7. Latu is an ideal 14 covering the halves, hooker and lock late in games. Radley is a great lock. Will be that link man

Its not that bad really, 6 HIA No Returns in 7 seasons. I wouldnt sign him, much rather we transition Doueihi to 13. Besides we have a few promising rangy 2nd rowers joining us in the offseason.
A rangy 2nd rower is not a lock though. We haven't had a proper lock in years

I try to put myself in the same situation and tbh I don't disagree with him. I'd much rather take a job and live in Bondi or Manly than New Zealand/Campbelltown/Bankstown/Parramatta or some regional area. Even if I could live in the area I want, but had to commute, I'd prefer not to, but it speaks to the fact that our location or affiliation to a certain area is going to be considered by some players...not all of course, but we are going to miss out on some because some will value that aspect highly. Others would prefer to own 5 properties in Blacktown than one house in Bondi...but it's a real consideration for players.

Look at Canberra...they actually have a similar problem. Same with Newcastle.

Inner City clubs have a big advantage.

I reckon...and just opinion, that this cloud surrounding him drops his value significantly. Roosters want him gone and that alone shows motivation to do some deal.

500k would be an acceptable risk...we pay Doueihi 400k...we pay Taylan 600k...surely 500k is a reasonable value to output salary.

In saying that, we may be a club that distances ourselves from this type of drama, and Radley is not a young kid that would look up to the leaders...he is meant to be a leader or at least would be at our club...there's a lot to consider from a cultural standpoint.

Under current rules and these terms, id happily take him.
But it raises other issues around these situations. Should a player sacked by one club be able to go and simply sign elsewhere, given the behaviour clauses breached are the same at the new club?
In this situation Roosters are losing a player but we (or whoever) would be gaining one and likely at less than market value for his playing talent. It's possible (and has happened many times in the past) the sacked player ends up being paid more at the new club.
Is it right for the player to walk straight into a new position?
Is it right for the new club to get the talent on unders?
Is there anything that can be done about?
E.g. player can not receive more at new club and the contract value on the cap match what he was previously earning. I'm sure this would be a restraint of trade but just an idea.
This isn't me feeling sorry for roosters, just thinking about the whole situation.
