HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

HBG would never have gained the dominant shareholder and financial position it holds today if it weren’t for the mismanagement of Kristina Keneally and the Labor Government in 2010.

The old Balmain Leagues Club was forced to close in 2010 to make way for a proposed metro station, a project that never happened.

This closure put enormous financial pressure on Balmain. Ultimately, HBG, under the guise of bailing out Balmain, effectively executed a financial takeover.

What they failed to realise was that this also hurt critical pathways programs in the inner west and Ryde, which in my opinion has contributed to our poor performance since 2010.

I personally can’t see HBG’s behaviour changing anytime soon. What we need is a private consortium genuinely passionate about the Tigers and Magpies to step in and convince the NRL that the current governance by HBG is harming the brand.

you’re the one who complains about not playing finals football everyday. but here you are defending the decision to put the board who oversaw 15 years of failure back in complete control. make it make sense

HBG is dysfunctional as anything ., they fight amongst themselves more than the WT Board… how much shit do they accuse each other about ? One moment they are best friends with Julie Romero … next she is out the door … I wouldn’t believe anything they say…before that it was Rick Wade and Dave Gilbert …. This latest is straight out of the playbook

Thee is no doubt about that, but they still have the right to be consulted about major decisions since they are the ones putting their money in.
Logic tells you no business would allow major decisions to be made without them being raised and passed at board level.
We can get rid of HBG and that type of conduct will still not be acceptable.

He said key decisions weren’t communicated to HBG. They have reps on WT Board so that makes no sense. He did not accuse WT Board members of making decisions without consulting WT Board. You’ve made that up completely.

They would have board meetings and have questions around decisions and inputs , but generally , if the business is turning a profit , and is financially viable , and thier shareholders are benefitting …Why would they need to know if Circuit Board manufacturer Curcuits r Us , has changed component suppliers , outside of notification they had to change suppliers for X reason.
A company is just letters and numbers on a document . It’s the people that you’re buying , and thier knowledge . This isn’t a factory line where you’re up in your office yelling shit at the floor all day .
 
I’m a Wests Tigers fan and former Magpies fan. Like most I’ve moved on. The jersey is a sign of bigger issues with the new board. If you have ever dealt first hand with the drama between Balmain and Wests you will know. Unfortunately the Magpie remembers the loss of power and domination of the JV by Balmain. The slightest sign of power slipping they will exert force and have.

Wests need to accept a Tiger is orange and that’s the brand that’s been around so many years If not rip the band aid off and fund the Magpies and move west permanently.

Tigers will be better off as an expansion club like the Bears. These fossils won’t ever let it go like the fans have.

Time and time they have proved themselves incompetent, this is not a one time event. Year in year out these guys stink. They gotta go no matter the negative implications on the club in the short term.

And other people were saying they were aware … the plans around the grounds was pretty public for like the last year or so …
