HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I don’t think losing one half of our team is the answer. We must continue to respect and honour our past but seriously have to push pass the division and ego.

Maybe HBG have to go but I don’t think having a pro Balmain (Remove the pies) approach is the answer either. We are and always will be Wests Tigers. Two battlers that joined together in order to survive. I wonder how Tommy Would feel.

Is he for real???!
What Paton’s quotes highlight to me is somebody is outright lying and the NRL needs to find out.

PATON in SMH:

“Now, there’s an agreement between Wests Tigers and Holman Barnes Group where certain decisions that are made need to come back to the owner for approval. That simply hasn’t been happening.

“And I can give an example of that – the stadium policy around Leichhardt Oval. So the announcement was that Leichhardt Oval would be the home of Wests Tigers for the next 15 years. The Holman Barnes Group board only found out about that with 16,000 other fans at Leichhardt Oval. Which is really bad for business, and it’s quite embarrassing really ...

JOINT STATEMENT from independent directors:

“We have at all times complied with our fiduciary duties in our roles as directors.

We reject any suggestion of a lack of communication with Holman Barnes Group. Holman Barnes Group is represented on the board of the Wests Tigers and its representative has been present at all Wests Tigers board meetings and provided with all board information. No concerns have been raised by the representative of Holman Barnes Group at any Wests Tigers board meeting in relation to governance, communication or consultation.”

The minutes from board meetings & written correspondence between board members should reveal all. The NRL need to obtain & forensically review these.

If minutes weren’t taken in Board meetings (which I highly doubt) then the entire Board, HBG reps & Richo may be in strife.

Why would the NRL bother going to such lengths?
They have more on their plate to deal with than this constant drama.

To cancel a membership you have to send the email to the department at the club that deals with memberships.
Just be respectful/professional, their going to be swamped in emails it's unfortunate and not ideal.
Just remember it's HBG that have put them and the other hard working staff in this position not the fans.
Yeah...it's almost like I missed something right? Like I hadn't connected the dots?

Then, when you think about it a little further, and pay a little more attention, you realise that people have already posted their responses from the club and the club are responding that they are not refundable. Nobody is getting their money back.

People are trying to make a point...it's not about the money. The point should be directed to HBG and the NRL. It's wasted on the membership department even if you did get your money back.

Something like...

Hi..just letting you know that because of the last 15 years of absolutely shocking stewardship and this most recent embarrassment, I will be cancelling my membership and not renewing until I see a change of club ownership. It kills me to punish my club to affect change and for that I am even more resentful at HBG ownership. HBG out!

Let a further personal rant ensue if you must...Cc membership too if you need to check that box for yourself knowing that you won't get your refund.

Our fans got an independent review off the ground at HBG (fat lot of good I know), if enough people get behind this I think PVL will act. He’s a working class operator like Richo.
What can he do though?
Tell the owners of the club to stop being mean to independent directors?

Ok going to play devils advocate for a second. But in saying the below I don't believe it, I believe HBG have sacked O'Farrell and co for stupid reasons or money.

But, lets pretend... What reason would trigger a firing of 4 directors?
A jersey colour. ROFL. (The souths Sailor Moon jersey is far worse).

Money? Yes. So we expanded to Ctown stadium and that's a 50m commitment. Wests Ashfield would be spewing at having to pay for something that big at Leumeah, if Money is tight then that blunder would really stand out. ... Ofcourse you have 2x directors on both boards, to sack the other 4 directors is a joke unless those 2x directors claim no knowledge (which is also sackable).
.. So maybe.

Honestly I wonder. We have 3 women as Independent Directors and Barry O'Farrell ex Premier. I mean they are pretty bright stars. Thinking that the HBG directors got jealous, which sounds petty but makes some sense. They saw the Jersey as an opportunity to get their way. .. Maybe

Still lost as to the reason behind all this.

My only comment on what you’ve said is HBG didn’t think it through very well. If they say communication was the biggest issue and it’s clear to everyone that there were two directors common to both boards then blind Freddy would ask why sack four directors off the WT board and leave the common directors in place. That just defies logic and commonsense.
It supports Nepotism though.

Which I think is one reason behind this.

The NRL have already taken control of our board once.

Governance is part of the licensing agreement too. It's in the interests of the NRL to have functioning clubs.

Not to mention, V'Landys has said publicly that the NRL will investigate...so that's why...because PVL said so.
