HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I don’t see the playing group being affected by Richo’s exit. I can see them getting their noses out of joint about Benji. However there is a very simple solution if they want him around. Win for the guy. Don’t have another sub par season than cry if he’s moved along. This isn’t a country club.
Maybe not Richo's exit on its own, even though im sure there are some personal relationships there, but the overall chaos and embarassment, the constant media and online commentary, I think it could effect morale in the group.

Winning teams identify something greater than themselves to play for - whether its people, place or a philosophy. The chaos of the last few weeks would not have helped this cause, particularly if they believe Benji is already on borrowed time.

I agree though, if they want to keep playing under Benji they need to improve again this year.

If we hover around the same spot on the ladder or go down, the justification is there to move him along.

If you think he left because of this why do you think he shouldve stayed a few more weeks over the festive season doing nothing? Or steadying the ship...how can he do that.
All it does is create more conjecture and uncertainty
My personal belief is, one of the factors in his leaving was to give emphasis. to the NRL, the dire situation the WT's are in. Not just a board matter, he brought it closer to the playing group, and therefore closer to NRL interests in the hope of involving PVL.

I was particularly disappointed with PVL’ s initial statement on the situation…seemed out of touch to what had just happened…so perhaps there is something to this … I just hope he is able to take the action most of us want

4 board members sacked
CEO resigns
New coach speculation
Players leaving speculation
NRL involved
Protest organised
Mayor involved directly calling out HBG

All in one week.

Does it get worse from here?
that totally depends on the performance of the team. A big drop down the table, i honestly think it is all over for the club.

History across a range of sports would suggest that dysfunction at board level will precipitate bad results.

HBG sacking Benji would effectively be a declaration of war to Wests tigers fans and the NRL.. for this exact reason I think Benji is safer than ever.

Every single Skeleton in the HBG closet WILL come out. We haven't even scratched the surface and it looks like Dennis Burgess is going to get the punt..

HBG are like kids playing with matches on a 40 degree day. The wrong spark and the whole place is going up. Us fans are the fire and flames . We will metaphorically burn them to the ground.

Short term there will be turbulence... But we will get them out. We just need to be smart about it.

The declaration of War has already happened… what do you think we are protesting about on Saturday ? If there are other HBG skeletons….bring them out now !

Yep. They are. But I have a feeling they won’t see it that way.
maybe the board could increase funding/resourcing as a show of faith? Along with some really clear communication to the effect of - nothing in the media will come from us, we are all in on the current set-up, your destiny is in your own hands.

I think thats a total fantasy

Well…we will see if that happens …I have expressed concerns that Benji will not be in the job for too long…
I'm not so sure. I really dont think HBG will continue to push the envelope, given the blowback they are receiving. Getting rid of Marshall, resulting in players leaving, is basically scorched earth. If players abandon the sinking ship, who will they con into coming to play here? What is the point of owning a football team in name only? I dont think they have the stomach for it.
