HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Back to my original point - this was not happening under the previous administration. Now we are back to where we were with the clown show was running the joint and the HBG "good ideas faries" had us jumping from one incomplete plan to the next.

I’m tipping we will be reading a lot of more of the clubs future plans in the media …might be back to the Lee H days… but with Burgo taking Buzz and the other media boys to Grappas for all afternoon lunches ..looking in vain for a bit of positive publicity

The last outcome the NRL want is a weakening of one of its foremast "brands". The WTs is one of the clubs which creates great interest, whether good news or poor.
You would hope so, although i'm not even sure what that brand is anymore. It doesnt feel like a club that represents its fans, an area or a philosophy.

Seems a small number of old rich old people want it to represent them - that should really get our players up and about.

The disgusting part about this is it has been self inflicted just when on field and off field performances were improving.

I am not sure what your original point was

I am just saying that I think Benji will be safe under Shaun....

As to how long Shaun lasts before the HBG chronies start their BS is another story all together

Let’s at least wait until Shaun has been formally appointed first ,,

I don’t see the playing group being affected by Richo’s exit. I can see them getting their noses out of joint about Benji. However there is a very simple solution if they want him around. Win for the guy. Don’t have another sub par season than cry if he’s moved along. This isn’t a country club.

Regarding posts on the club not granting membership refunds.
A mate of mine just reminded me of the COVID membership pledge. There would have been hundreds if not thousands of us idiots that pledged our memberships that year to support the club, only to follow up with the BS of the past 5 years culminating in the events of the past 1.5 weeks.
My group alone (6 of us) all pledged that year, and that pledge that we donated is more than the debenture holders sitting on the board have paid annually since then to make decisions on behalf of our club. What a terribly outdated system they sit behind.

The point was about the leaks. It is clear from what is being reported in the media that someone at the club has already started to set the conditions for the next potential move. It may not occur but sewing the seeds has already affected the team and the coaching staff. It started the minute Richo left the joint.

It seems to me you are an optimist …Not that there is anything wrong with that of course…

I don’t see how the players and coach can be “quarantined” from this mess ..unless PVL curbs HBG’s power ….and I’m not even sure he is able to , let alone wants to …given there are no financial difficulties with the club ..
They cant be quarantined from the perspective of not hearing about the mess that's been deliberately created, but they can insulated from the worst of its direct effects by careful mentorship.
Benji is the right person for that job. If Benji keeps his cool, to some extent, he will be able to calm and focus the playing group.
Also, who knows what background discussions are taking place between Richo and Benji.

I honestly believe richo did it to try and force something from the nrl, in a way an ultimatum
If you think he left because of this why do you think he shouldve stayed a few more weeks over the festive season doing nothing? Or steadying the ship...how can he do that.
All it does is create more conjecture and uncertainty

Well…we will see if that happens …I have expressed concerns that Benji will not be in the job for too long…

Maybe not Richo's exit on its own, even though im sure there are some personal relationships there, but the overall chaos and embarassment, the constant media and online commentary, I think it could effect morale in the group.

Winning teams identify something greater than themselves to play for - whether its people, place or a philosophy. The chaos of the last few weeks would not have helped this cause, particularly if they believe Benji is already on borrowed time.

I agree though, if they want to keep playing under Benji they need to improve again this year.

If we hover around the same spot on the ladder or go down, the justification is there to move him along.

My personal belief is, one of the factors in his leaving was to give emphasis. to the NRL, the dire situation the WT's are in. Not just a board matter, he brought it closer to the playing group, and therefore closer to NRL interests in the hope of involving PVL.

4 board members sacked
CEO resigns
New coach speculation
Players leaving speculation
NRL involved
Protest organised
Mayor involved directly calling out HBG

All in one week.

Does it get worse from here?

It’s all just another Balmain v Wests squabble apparently .. when will those two finally get their act together ?
