HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Highly likely it was a similar story with paying well above the average market value for the services provided by Enriched.
The good news is I’m 💯 confident Shaun Mirkenkamp won’t hide anything and will communicate and have the hard discussions when required.

The CEO’s responsibility is to communicate with the board of the Wests Tigers. It’s the responsibility of the WT board to act in the interest of WT.

If SM reports to the WT board that the 2027 home jersey is to be predominantly orange based on market research that shows this will result in an increase in brand awareness and merchandise sales. On what basis would the HBG representatives on WT board intervene and use their majority to force the CEO to implement a majority black version instead?

This isn’t a fair comparison. Brisbane and Melbourne have QLD cup feeder clubs (mostly in Melbourne’s case).

You’re also ignoring the fact that Manly, Penrith, and Parra are first grade sides that have abandoned a similar model and have reinstated State Cup sides that mirror the rest of their pathways and FG names.

Correct I am not denying what you are saying is true.
What I am questioning is how you can possibly believe there was not another party such as Richo that was also at fault and was at least partly to blame in HBG becoming unhappy.
You seem to think they just become unhappy for no reason whatsoever.
It doesn’t make removing the 4 independents any better, but 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

Good question, but they should still be made aware and have a discussion about it before the reveal, out of courtesy if nothing else don’t you think ?

I think then it becomes why was there not another way to approach this besides sacking? Was richo aware hbg were upset? Why didn't HBG reps raise it at the board to be fixed?

If it was completely unreasonable actions from richo, the independents on the board would certainly have taken action to rein him in.

Richo doesnt have a track record of failure. The very least, this should have been done with a lot more consideration and process.

Do you think HBG have the ability to know what good looks like? I dont

The ‘90%’ shareholders had 2 of their directors on the rugby league board and would have known exactly what was happening.
You can’t seem to accept that.
Maybe they didn’t turn up for meetings, didn’t listen, couldn’t understand ... or were drunk?

So you’re admitting that whoever was behind the decision to sack the Wests Tigers board should be removed.

Given the decision was made by the HBG board and CEO, is it fair to say the HBG board and CEO should be removed from both HBG and Wests Tigers in that case?

Richo has become far too arrogant and doesn’t give a you know what.
Yes he’s a very smart man and very good at what he does, but you still need humility and respect to go with it.
Chamnas summed him up to a tee.

You don’t understand.
CEO’s and ones with the experience of Richo get a certain amount of delegation and leeway to make decisions that do not need to reach board level.
That’s fantastic, but the respectful thing to do is still discuss things you know will likely upset the 90% shareholders.

Sure. But you can control that at board level. Richo had that exact same attitude when he came in, hes a do'er, not a talker.

So yeah, why not controls at board level? The independants wouldnt have accepted it either if it was causing issues.

We know that there was no dissenting votes on anything. So it obviously wasnt raised.

Jersey design should be the responsibility of a sub-committee that includes the WM and BT representatives.

If the sub-committee doesn’t report back ti the board they should be given a warning.

That’s how communication issues should be managed, not through sacking 4 high profile independent directors resulting in the resignation of one of the best CEO’s in the game.
 
Do they also realise that getting rid of an ex-premier can also create a lot of enemies. You never know when the liberals will be back in power and we have a lot of committed funding from govt. (More than HBG group has tipped in over last 15 years)
