Unpopular opinion but I think Abigail is on the money.

Talking to a therapist about problems that seem impossible to solve often makes you feel worse. You need to focus on overcoming the problem instead of always thinking about "why" you feel a certain way.

I'd rather open up to a close friend then talk to a therapist.

Whether you’re talking to a friend, therapist or the gatepost the positive is your looking for a solution.

I think you and this person fundamentally misunderstand modern therapy interventions. Happy to send you stacks of research which shows how effective interventions like CBT are for things like clincial anxiety and depression (which actually aim to do exactly what you want them to do, help overcome problems).

But I agree, the best solutions are the ones that people generate and implement themselves and people should feel empowered to do so. In most cases having a supportive social or family network is a huge piece of the puzzle.

Look away , I'm that bloody angry, surgeon knocked me back on my nicotine count today for a shoulder reco . Anesthetist and somebody else were ok
Point being , i squealed like a pig ,there must be some equation ,target i need to be below . 11 months ago
Specialist told me to halve it , i did ,mostly,go cold turkey when surgery is flagged .i said
1 week from operation and every body becomes an expert
Nurse Joe is an anti smoker told me to go doctor shopping or get my count under 50 with no guarantee he would be happy with that
Plenty of positives ,but old man screams at clouds

just as a side note ,i spoke to a female friend about it ,god bless she just listened and wished me well
2of my male friends ,switched it to them ,kind of acknowledging what i said mid sentence ,and my gay friend went of chasing butterflies lol
