This is a strange stance to take me on it. It seems more logical that they need to prove what they said is true, not everyone has to prove what they said is incorrect. You have it back to front. The events afterwards indicate that what they said isnt true. Yet you take the unusual stance that people can say whatever they like and unless everyone else can prove them wrong then it must be taken as true....thats a strange way to live, but your choice I guess.

This was part of the statement along with Barry O'Farrell's reinstatement.

So for anyone saying that no statement has been made- not quite true.

So basically their response is, we blew up the club and got it wrong and won't be saying anything about it for another 2 months.

That is the exact behaviour people want to see the back of. There is zero accountability for their actions.

Sure. Let’s run with that.

HGB own the Wests Tigers - let’s say they loose the licence, but hey, they still own the Wests Tigers.

The NRL after negotiating with Arthur Laundy transfer the licence across to his newly formed club - The 2GB Pub Boys (NRLW side would of course be the 2GB Pub Girls)

And the forum celebrates, hooray the HGB reign has ended.

Bottom line - Wests Tigers aren’t for sale
Deal with it 🤣
 
What we need is
1..A board that sole interest is the Weststigers, not Wests or Balmain..even if one of the joint venture clubs is providing 99% of the funds.

2..A Board that is willing to supply and generate enough funds to be able to compete with other clubs

3..A board that is democratically elected and held accountable.

The chances of the above is zero. Sadly substained success under our current set up will be near impossible

Laundy would be all about making money and getting results , his pubs are all pretty good I hear so must have some good support around him , he would be a complete different owner than HBG , he would want his Wests Tigers to be at the top and competitive , and I doubt he would want to dump the magpies , big strong club with huge junior base is where he would be going , he may run West tigers name in both nrl and reserves but there is probably 50% of our supporters who would be ok with that

I would guess 80% of supporters would be ok with Wests Tigers in both grades. Its only a small minority that cant let it go, unfortunately for all of us, part of that small minority make the decisions at the club. Very dangerous situation.

Nobody wants HBG to fail, but we need strong, constructive leadership.
It writes itself like a Greek tragedy, with the irony of the very thing established to ensure sustainable success eventually developing as its major destructive force.

I find it funny how dismissive a person can be of another’s views when not knowing them. Why isn’t this my thing? I’ve run a successful business for many years. I continue to do so. You speak like you know me, however I wasn’t even really aware you existed on here as a regular poster until somewhere around the seasons end. I have no beef as I basically am unaware of you.

You stated improvements = success. To me improvement isn’t success unless it delivers tangible outcomes that can be measured against defined goals and we aren’t privy to that exact detail. From the outside looking in, there were some certain improvements financially. I disagree leadership was improved, in fact our leadership caused some of the drama amongst the group.
In 2025 the Tigers failed where it matters most - results and execution.
Poor on-field performance, ongoing instability off it, and fixes to problems that never should’ve existed don’t equal a successful season for mine., moreso a missed opportunity.
A “positive trajectory” is just permission to keep going — not a tick of achievement. It’s a good start and I don’t see why it can’t be extended and expanded upon this year.

To explain- as the 'majority owner' (for whatever term you want to give HBG) they are similar to a business owner.

Decisions come from above that do not get explained to an employee. Notification is made, people move on.

HBG made a statement. We can certainly question it. But for mine- they have not been proven wrong. Yet.

This MIGHT change in the future. Everyone hangs HBG now.

My opinion- the truth & success of their decision will come from the result of it. They might set up a brilliant new Wests Tigers board. Mielekamp might be 100 times the CEO Richardson was.

Or it might all go to Hell- and then they can reap the results of their decisions.

We simply do not know enough of the truth of the reasoning to decide that yet.

That's one way to look at it.

Another way is- they made a decision, and when they settle on how to rectify things going forward- they'll tell us.

Patience is a virtue. 😀

I'm not sure if 'worry' is the right word.

It seems premature. Again- it's one of those decisions that time will show if it's genius or lunacy. Thing is, if it fails, HBG will have to front the cash to pay him out- so it really affects them most.

Also- I like Benji. So I might be biased.

I love benji, but being a Head Coach and being responsible for recruitment seems like cutting corners to me. Need smart people in recruitment and roster planning.
Fulton for his faults, brought in Latu & Samuela who feature in our 1-17 every week while Benji recruited Bud.
