Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

In a perfect world we could lose nobody we want to keep and add Barnett.
But, that is unlikely and we probably cannot offer him as much as some other clubs if we are upgrading and extending the contracts of some of our key players currently off contract at the end of 2027.
realistically they aren't going to get what they want. they've allowed Barnett to leave, they'll be expected to honour it for his family's sake.

they're talking tough at the moment but this isn't like the Lomax situation or even Addo-Carr when we were trying to get him from Melbourne.

I noticed today that we are considered the 4th favourite for the spoon…with only the Knights, Titans and Dragons behind them …

Is this real world ? The punters think the Tigers are the 4th worst team in the comp? They are gunna finish like 14th ?

I’m assuming Barnett has agreed to stay with the Warriors for the 2026 season as he knows it’s too late for them to find a decent replacement.
I’m also assuming that he would be happy move back to Australia ASAP if a club was willing to provide the Warriors with an immediate player swap they are happy with.
My assumptions could be totally wrong.

I believe they are …

The Warriors have been down this path recently with Fonua Blake … they wanted him to play out the current season before allowing him to leave, to allow them a proper opportunity to find a replacement instead of taking any warm body on offer immediately … if memory serves , I think they ended up with Fisher Harris …not a bad replacement by any means

oh immediately I think you might be right, for 2027 I don't think they'll have much luck.

they're in desperate need of a centre. Halasima's a backrower, Berry's injury prone and Pompey and Leiataua can't tackle.

based on history I spose. three straight spoons and 13th last year. 15 years since finals. they aren't exactly a surefire bet from that perspective, despite what we all think.

the club needs to use that perception to its advantage though. become the hunters.

Canberra were picked as spoon contenders in 2025 - while I personally don't like AD at 7 he isn't a basket case so I think we should be able to carry him until one of the other halves proves their worth.

it's just nice to have options. if we're winning games with him at 7 I'm happy.

As you know I was not so long ago very pessimistic about our 2026 prospects.
That has recently changed as I’m seeing plenty of confidence within our playing group, it definitely looks to be a tight knit playing group and I’ve seen good improvement in a lot of our players since last season.
That coupled with Makasini looking far more advanced than I initially thought he would be.
I think our improving forwards are very under rated and that along with the long kicking game from Doueihi and a long and smart kicking game from Madden if/when required now gives us the ability to get good field position and reduce the suffocation that has happened to us quite regularly in recent seasons.
I have no idea how the Roosters and Bulldogs are being put on a pedestal, I have every confidence we can beat both of them with even luck.
I honestly believe we are now at the stage where we are good enough to beat any opponent home or away with even luck, so the ball is finally in our court, if we minimise our errors and play with good energy I think we comfortably make the top 8.

We can send them To’a and solve all their problems.

We do have a regular habit of being shite above all expectations.

I’ll be surprised if this team only wins 6-7 games and finishes in the bottom 4… they are better than last years team with more depth, more experience playing together and they should avoid the disruption around Galvin leaving ..: even if Bula signs elsewhere I think he will keep his head down all year and move on quietly in 2027

I’d do it in a New York minute … Origin player last year versus guy who was ass cheeks for us most of last season and wants to leave in a couple of years anyway to get back to Melbourne

The Broncos are gagging to get Barnett to replace Haas … but what do they know ?

I love it Tommy Ass cheeks and Gagging reminds me of my youth

I think the top 4-6 teams are pretty consistent, then there are abt 6-8 teams fighting for position 6-14 and all are fairly even. It is not impossible for the tigers to have a ‘reasonable’ year and still finish 14th. I hope not, but it’s a possibility.

Did you see Zero tackle rate the spines and I think we are like 14/15 and Canterbury above us

Tracy
Burton
Galvin
Haywood

Is better then

Bula
Luai
AD
API

Did you see Shaun Johnson tipped AD for Dally M this year 🤣 thought you’d like that one Jolls.
I hope he does and I have to swalow my pride and eat my hat. I'm well prepared though RHS has already given me tips on how to eat my hat and what flavour sauce to use! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

I'm all in on AD as he's the likely starter and I will try very hard not to jump up and down while he "develops".
