OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I would imagine single guys may be reluctant & young guys who are close to family.

Older players with families with kids aged 1 to 3 would be prime target (as they can return before schooling).
Any idea how old Terrell’s kids are ?
I fear we may lose him to PNG as he will be 29y.o by then and will likely want to maximise his income before he retires.
Losing someone like Terrell would be a big blow, but if we know his intentions early enough we could work on finding a good replacement.

Worse case scenario is we might lose a couple of more players we wanted to keep to the PNG team.
Benji is not stupid, he has total control of our recruitment and retention and I’m sure he will be speaking with all our key players who are off contract at the end of 2027 to ask if they are thinking of leaving g for PNG or elsewhere and get an idea of how much it will cost to keep them with us.
As an example there are plenty of quality backs with PNG heritage, so I don’t think players such as Taylan May will be high on their target list and if they don’t want him it could and hopefully will mean that Terrell May is not interested.
I reckon Chammas, Willie Peters and Jerome would love to have all 3 Fainu brothers, but you would hope Jerome does the honourable thing and realises how important they are to our Wests Tigers future.
Turuva and Pole are the only others they will possibly be looking at and we will need to make them both very good offers to hopefully stay with us.
Willie Peters is Tyrone May’s coach ???? Of course they are on his hit list. Where’s our CEO’s re-signings?

Yeah I dunno pete....this has all so far been handled well imo....all done in less than three days, 60 odd hours.
No specualation, no guessing..we cant stop media narratives and our other players off contract are still in the same spot as they were before all this...its not like PNG has been suddenly sprung on us all its been known well in advance

We handle this perfectly imo
Yep, totally agree with you. They couldn't have handled this much better.

What worries me is that our most successful period off the field has been when Richo was in charge and the board was independent. We haven't had a great track record in the past with dealing with this sort of thing otherwise. Hopefully Shaun is up to the job of locking in all the players we want and the board can stay completely out of it.

The contract is not the problem it's the fact that he is being used as a possible recruiter for a cashed up club looking to put together a competitive team. This is not one quality player moving on to an established club fulfilling his contract - he is being encouraged to bring blokes with him while we pay him 1,2 for the privilege.
Some may not see that as a problem but it doesn't sit well with me.

I would suggest Benji willl have him out on his backside if he is doing that

I’m trying to be as optimistic as possible ( unlike some moaners here) but Shaun has no authority as the interim ceo to get these deals done… they will require sign off by the board ultimately…so he has one tied behind his back trying to negotiate with these player agents

Why would we change any on field stuff when its not necesary...things are working well in this regard no need to upset thw apple cart
You're right.

And Luai has shown (when he left Penrith for the tigers) that he isn't the type to phone it in for the remainder of his contract.

I was upset... My emotions got the better of me... I've been hurt so many times before... 🤣

He supports the new CEO mate … prefers him to Richo
What has the CEO got to do with it ?
Benji has been given full control over recruitment and retention and no CEO is going to going to tell him who we can or cannot re-sign.
This being the case it’s certain Benji will be doing all he can to put forward very good long term offers for all players we want to keep, but for the ones wanted by PNG and willing to live there for extra money, there is nothing Benji or any CEO on the planet can do about it.
Strong rumours that PNG are offering Pat Carrigan 1 million per season, so hopefully he accepts which will them limit what they can potentially offer someone like Terrell May.

As Benji said clubs got til Nov 1 to pull their finger out and re-sign who we want to keep
Players have a mind of their own, and PNG were always gunna be there regardless if Luai signed on or not
I know being mates with our players isnt helpful but its what it is
The climate has changed somewhat because of this in terms of our club. The bloke regarded as being significant for turning the culture here, is going to try and do the same at a cashed up club while we are paying him a fortune while he is doing it. Meanwhile who are we relying on to look after our best interests - Benji can't do it all.
Not prepared to make any predictions but the situation is not ideal for a club like ours on the edge of some improvement but having achieved very little in a long time.

Why did Terrell come out and say they forgot about our extension ? Bus stops with the CEO

Not sure on his kids. But out of all our players I feel the May brothers would be most likely to go especially if Tyrone is brought over by his current coach. They will have each other & wives/kids there plus I can see them saying how it will help set their parents up too. If they have professional podcasting studios in Port Moresby, they are gone lol

Whereas the Fainus are very close to family in Sydney and with Manase coming out of the big house this year & Sione signed here until 2029, I reckon they won't leave Sydney.

Don’t tell me mate ..tell the other bloke whinging about him.l.😂…

So why haven’t the extensions been done yet then ?

Also If Richo was still here ,,,would all these guys remain un- signed ?

Peops still thinking HBG had no involvement lol.

Richo negotiating clauses out in November last year.

Gets punted.

Club is a full on basket case for the whole off season.

Player agents concerned and other clubs telling players and agents the tigers are a basket case.

Richo goes
Jarome goes
Bula, May ?

How many players will it take before people realize HBG are a cancer to this club?

Richo is the most capped CEO in the game. Taken 3 teams from the bottom to premierships and another from bankruptcy to a prelim.

How many have done that? Zero.

What have HBG done? Run this club into the ground since Balmain went into administration.
You are preaching to the majority converted
