Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Is junior Toops really a better option than Luke L the rest of this season ?

Still could have signed him next season I assume..
Probably better opportunity for him with injuries and he’s moving on to Perth. Shares same manager as Fainus, Schuster make of that what you will. I’d say they want to give Tavana his minutes if there’s injury.

I agree. He ain't perfect and there's a lot there to work on, but I also remember a time back in the wretched early rounds of 2024 where he was one of the few bright lights we had during that dark period. One game in particular against Parra stands out in my memory. He was busting tackle after tackle coming out of the back field.

100%.

Kid has raw talent.

With the right coaching he will fire.

Comparatively to Luke, Tupou is much taller (6’2) so an aerial threat no doubt.

Don’t understate maturity either. Hes 23 now but has a few years more of experience on his belt.

Hopefully he can go well for us.

Replacing Laulilii with Tupou could work out.

Would prefer a more confident player but Laulilii was becoming a target for opposition teams both in First Grade and NSW Cup.

If Benji can rebuild Tupou’s confidence, there is a quality player there. I didn’t want to lose him when he was here before.

At least he’s tall and fast, which is rare for a WT winger.

Laulili and Tupou both have suspect hands imo,Tupou has obvious height advantages and is just a bigger body in general. Tupou can also add centre depth where Luke is purely a winger maybe a FB at a pinch.
I guess the thinking could be Tupou covers more in demand area's atm.
We wanted to resign him before he went to the phins, i guess it just makes more sense. My biggest issue with him apart from his hands he always seemed to look disinterested and lacked urgency. Lets face it we need depth i guess he offers that,

The roster has improved dramatically since he left. Think it will be good for him.

Fast? Luke would be faster. Both not great in the air, despite Junior’s height

Not keen on the Tupou signing and I was a fan of his when he was here. The fact he has been ordinary since leaving is really worrying. Always thought he was more of a centre than winger, so maybe Benji is looking for him to fill right centre this year.
