OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

He only knows Lebanese people around the game...amazing how a mortgage broker from Five Dock has made people believe he is a media personality.
I saw him walk on the field at leichardt last match then walk up into the stands.. I still don't understand what the point of that was

Anyone with a camera can be a personality these days

There's a public spat now on insta between a guy called spanian and some people of a certain religion. I can see it escalating into something far more serious

There’s one guy who comes out of all these dramas looking like a million bucks, and that’s Api. Given the way he’s carried this team the last 3 years, the blood, sweat and tears he has expended, if there was one player you could excuse for saying “F this. I’m out,” it’s him. Maybe he’s a masochist. Poor bastard.
I reckon Doueihi is the one who comes out of this looking good.
Has grown into a leader and is the true on field general in this squad despite the fact others wear that tag, he shown greater consistency over the past 18 months than the more fancied “stars” and is an actual threat in attack …often our only one.

I’m sure they believe, but you can’t tell me there isn’t a performative aspect when they all do it in the middle of the field.
Having travelled throughout the Pacific Islands extensively I can tell you that most of these guys are brought up to be thankful to God for everything. The missionaries did a very good job in turning these people into God fearing individuals and it’s stuck over time. God and family are everything !
Therefore, to answer your question I don’t think it has anything to do with a performance. They simply are giving thanks along with their island brothers.
If you look closely in the dressing rooms pre game you will see many of them on their knees praying individually before the game, it’s a Pacific thing although if you watch the Lebanese ( Douehi / Twal) you will also see them crossing themselves and looking to the heavens before à game. Or whenever Douehi scores.
Most of us just don’t have that faith and belief.

Someone mentioned earlier that he wouldn’t play tomorrow night.
Elsewhere it says he’s a definite starter, and who knows what might happen !!
À “Gold Coast” repeat hat trick would be bloody great, and attract some buyers.
Actually , just a win at CSS against a big scalp would be enough for me !

On half the money too.

Multiple people were commenting during the Dragons game that us not showing up was due to something that we were not yet aware of.

Knowing the Tigers we will probably use the Luai cap space to "upgrade" to a Brooks / Galvin halves pairing 🙄

Team has been culled. Luai is still at #6 and Madden has dropped off the extended bench. I guess Luai is playing.

Agree. We have so many missing pieces at the moment. I can't expect Jaromes career best with our lineup in recent weeks. I have no problem with Luai but it will be messy in the media regardless.

I figure signing Luai was the best thing the club could do at the time and since then things have changed rapidly.

Since then we are in a different spot with many new players and like others said having him now is superflous atm and we want the Fainus long term more than Luai.

Luai gets big bucks at PNG and its a zero sum game. No losers here.

Its only the media stuff that makes it hard IMO.

Sure 👍.. Luke brooks would not have made the team .. do you think with the amount of talent they had to choose from that if Jarome was not the absolute best man for the job he would have kept his position.. do you realise that they have that group to play with and Jarome has toa and no second rowers when fainu is not there ..

Avarillo just signed, Bula signed.

If the Fainu’s sign, I think it’s safe to say the media stuff is just muck raking.

The Tigers are no longer a joke amongst quality players.

I'm okay with this. Our season is cooked anyway and has been since he announced his lifetime commitment to the club was coming to an end in exchange for some tax free dollarydoos.

Andrews and Fainu are the future of the club. We've got to build the team around those two. Losing Luai will be a blessing, but losing Fainu or Andrews or potentially both of them would be catastrophic.

Commenting where?

I put my tin foil hat on, played some reruns of Mr Squiggle and started connecting a few dots

10 days…
Against Newcastle Luai didn’t call a single play
Few days later, late onset concussion…

Perhaps the club told him before the Newcastle game, then they gave him the week off once they realised he couldn’t ‘get his head right’

Josh from the emergency Luai podcast after looking at his phone ..

I’ve just heard some really bad news ….

Bonnie Tyler has died …

All respect to Bonnie …but …not sure that’s the right time Josh …
Yep, she was never coming here anyway. RIP BT💐💐💐💐
