Warriors right winger from Jersey Flegg scored 5 tries, Warriors right winger from NSW Cup scored 3 tries, how can one club be found short for numbers out wide in every grade so often?
Surely they do a review to get some answers ASAP.
Hazyn Mellars ex Rabbitohs and current the Warriors NSW Cup right winger is 6 foot 4, 100kgs, a quick and elusive ball runner, runs the ball hard and aggressively with his yardage carries.
He is always a genuine threat with any high balls that come his way and plays with good aggression.
I see he is currently contracted to the Warriors until the end of 2028, BUT the Warriors for 2027 have 3 high class NRL wingers in Will Warbrick, Aliofa Khan-Pereira and Watene-Zalezniak signed for 2027 onwards.
Mellars is 110% NRL ready now, surely he could find a way to get out of his contract if a club come calling with a much clearer NRL pathway for him from 2027 onwards?
Hazyn spent time in Gladstone .....he and my son played a bit of rep footy together at a young age

I’ve watched him play a couple of times this season and he looks very strong and fast to go with his height and athleticism.
He is wasted playing NSW Cup and with 3 top class wingers ahead of him at the Warriors for 2027, it’s unlikely he will break into their NRL team no matter how well he plays.
These are quite often the type of players where contracts can be broken if another club head hunts the player offering better NRL opportunities.

Agree Mellars is quite the talent and has those attributes we lack on the wing - speed, height & x-factor. I vaguely recall he had a cracker against us last year too when he played for the Rabbitohs. Doubt the Warriors will let him go but they do have a bit of overload of outside back talent coming through including Sio Kali.

Makes you wonder why they signed Luke for the remainder of this year

That was one of Wests' worst performance of the year - on par with the Canberra shallacking - but still miles better than First Grade and Flegg.

I would promote Roberts and Saukuru. With Toa, May and the forklift driver injured, we don't have any other options at centre.
In a poor performance, I thought Javon & Saukuru were our most dangerous, whilst Taateo, Aho & Murray held their own up the middle and Roberts showed signs, but I feel he looks to produce a big risky play too often atm rather than just head down, run hard.

Taateo, Aho & Murray need a massive off season in the gym this off season.
Saukuru if we retain him needs a conditioning coach

Aho has been impressive in the games I have watched. As you have said, intense conditioning will be of great benefit to him.
I particularly hope we retain Aho & Taateo on T&T contracts. Aho already has a big engine for a big bloke so an NRL pre-season could do wonders. Taateo has the impact and more strength & conditioning is what he needs to go to the next level.
