What is the future for the club?
Have they embraced the Macarthur enough?

Please, this isn't to start fights.

We all have our own opinions on the subject. I personally think they wasted an opportunity to make Campbelltown their HQ playing most games at Campbelltown with 2 or 3 a year at Leichhardt by making Concord their HQ.

I'm sure if they had originally sought funding for a MAJOR redevelopment of Campbelltown, which would've included the $75m that was spent on the COE at Concord, they would have had a modern, NRL compliant 25 to 30 thousand seat stadium by now.

Thoughts?

The “argument “ has apparently been decided until 2040 based on what the club has released publicly with long term agreements to play at CS/ LO based on a 7/4 share which I think signals a commitment to the South West as the major focus for the team

part of the money for Leichhardts upgrade has come from their local council …they have been proactive about trying to keep the team having a presence in the local area like it’s been for a century .

That stadium is also used for other men’s and women’s sports and is an iconic stadium for the city …something like a 100 events a year are staged there

It deserves the modest refurbishment it is getting in my view

I can’t recall where the funding from the COE came from but I think this included significant local council investment too .., wrong or right, the decision was made , the facility built so onwards and upwards
 
Stadium capacity will be a huge issue if we ever mange some sort of success. With a little bit of form at the start of the year we were selling out Campbelltown & Leichhardt with ease

It's a tough one because we have a diverse and often passionate supporter base that sometimes puts their own preference ahead of the good of the club. I also can't imagine it ever being politically palatable for the Balmain or HBG reps on the board to ever to agree to relocate the club.

For mine, it's no guarantee of immediate success but would be a 5-10 year play and has potential to be very lucrative for the club. Especially if they're able to lay down some strong pathways foundations locally at high schools in the same way that Penrith has.

The real wildcard is Wests Leagues club at Campbelltown.

Back in the days of the Magpies in the 90s, the club was basically a big shed with a few pokies and struggled to provide funds to the footy team.

Now, they're enormous. They dwarf HBG in terms of revenue. If they're brought in as a club owner,. combined with HBG we'd be one of the best funded clubs in Sydney.

As a fan, it's time for the Balmain and HBG guys to put up their hands and admit they don't have the financial oomph to carry the club into the future, give up a bit of the past and bring in a new partner.

I can’t recall the exact reasons why it was built at Concord … I think the local Govt put in some money + land … whether its the best area for it is a moot point for the next 20 years at least …that’s the call that was made at the time, that’s what they will be operating out of…

I have never been there in person … but it certainly looks a magnificent facility to train and rehabilitate players .. the club is lucky to have such a facility thinking back to the years when they operated out of portable buildings

It’s certainly fit for its primary purpose

Is this true, really?

So again it's HBG thats holding the club back. Have they ever really supported the idea of Cambo? Whats the CEO doing about this? This is a massive question for the future of the club.

I'm an old Balmain guy and even I say, we should be fully in Macarthur in around ten years time.

Tough call but they don’t need a partner Wests Group at Cambo need to take over the club. It won’t make any sense unless it’s a club there full time. Issue is sporting clubs are a good investment tv revenue covers the costs even running last they make financial sense. Why would you sell? People assume results on the footy field are important id guess to our owners they are not that key.

Canada Bay council funded a large part of the COE (i think $30m). So that can't be shifted. The question is more, why doesn't cambo council do the same? I believe the council there has been a large part of the problem why we haven't shifted more.

But also, it needs to be financially viable and when there is a risk of crowd turnout size, theyd never put the eggs all in that basket. I think if we start consecutively selling out the ground, then that changes the conversation.

Campeltown council need to start leading the conversation. Not us.

1 sellout at CSS. Should have sold out the other 2 earlier in the year but didn’t. Even with cheap tickets v Dolphins it didn’t sellout.

I did say earlier in the year. By the time we played Warriors and Dolphins we were playing like mud and the bandwagon came crashing back to earth

3 Leichhardt sell outs and 1 Campbelltown in the first 2 months of footy, plus an Easter Monday sell out (or was that an eels home game?)
