Coach Benji 👑

Id just like to know why it took the team until the 70th minute to really start playing tigers type of footy...

Have they had the creativity coached out of them to follow the penrith mould?

Its like somewhere along the way, we changed our style... too much... because the penrith style doesnt suit this team...

I hate this club, because the last 10 mins gave me hope we might actually score a few tries against the roosters 😂😂
We will be lucky to even get into the rorters quarter.I hate losing but i do like to see our blokes try, unfortunately only about 3 or 4 of them seem to try until the end of the game and they are the blokes i see as keepers.

While ever the focus is on Benji you allow the club to exist on false hope when they sack him for the next guy and waste more money paying him out, while congratulating themselves for throwing money at "football" in the Hunter and having board members all support it with their scarves on while Wests Tigers are falling in heap... so over this mob and those who think that they are doing us a favour by maintaining control.
Scapegoating coaches is all they have

Coaching is a huge part of the issue. 100 % it's not the entire problem with the club but there is no way Benji even remotely gets a pass on any of his tenure as a coach.

To try and justify his incompetence as coach solely on the club is extremely ignorant.

Yep the administration is rubbish and it shouldn't of hired him, extended him and given him total control of the coaching setup, recruitment and operations.

But surrounding himself with his mates, the lack off offensive and defensive structures, poor team selections, squad composition, man management, lack of accountability and zero transparency are all 100% decisions Benji made and are 100% on him.

Trying to pretend otherwise requires extreme mental gymnastics where Benji is responsible for nothing. In this awesome world Benji clearly would be a premiership winning coach if only he was at a powerful club with a first class roster. Alot of you are clearly off with the fairies 🧚🧚🧚

Think people are just looking at the bigger picture of why we haven’t made finals in 15 years, of course coaching is an issue

The we have standards and there’s the effing door worked for a short period , but that theory has slipped by
The problems with the club's poor adminsitration and coaching / holding people to standards are, unfortunately, linked.

For example, my guess is that it is very easy to say "we have standards, and if you don't meet them, there is the door", but much harder to actually do anything to enforce those standards if the club is an obvious basket-case.

Because once you think through how you are going to enforce a stanrdard - telling a player to leave because they haven't met the requirements of training / effort / playing in the position the coach asks of you / not vaping in the gym - you immediately realise that it will be very difficult to recruit someone to fill the hole. Other players don't want to come to the club, because of its poor history of lack of finals, reputation for poor management and not paying enough to have top-flight staff, trainers etc.

So then you don't hold the players accountable, and so the standards drop, and the cycle of poor training / effort and poor results perpetuates.

I genuinely think the issue is his assistants . The style of attack is too meh , and the defence system seems to go in one ear out the other .
We definitely need some new voices in the locker room .
I’m not a Benji fanboy at all, I just really don’t think flipping the whole club on its head again is a good thing . It’s not just the nrl system that changes Z it’s the whole club .

Right, so we don't enforce standards because it will scare players off.

We haven't made the finals for 15 years because we don't enforce standards.

Players won't come because we haven't made the finals for 15 years.

It would seem alot of our issues revolve around standards.

Id rather us not be rubbish but if we are to be rubbish id rather have standards than not .....

If Benji could be convinced to have experienced competent assistant coaches around him. A proper head of football and an actual requirement manager then maybe hed have a chance.

Problem is he has a very large ego and that's why things are the way they are.

I can't see him relinquishing the required amount of control. The most successful coaches surround themselves with successful people.

Unfortunately for us Benji surrounds himself with those that don't threaten his job or level of control....

Like I say to this argument … most of them come from somewhere else themselves … every club has players coming and going …but it only derails our seasons ?
Ex-CEO signs Luai on a mega contract with more holes than a slice of swiss cheese. Makes a whole bunch of excuses when it leaks.

Luai has a very poor first season. One of our best juniors for a long time - who was outplaying Jarome - walks. CEO bails, Luai bails not long after. Everyone left in the lurch, wondering what they'd signed up for.

Not many clubs balls it up that badly.

We have a long list of paying overs for players, but this must be the worst in NRL history.

I agree. The fact that poor club administration makes enforcing standards harder underlines that you need to improve both in order to improve the on field performances over time.

Fans can’t do much about the administration of the club, but we can voice our support for enforcing standards. And then if the coach stands a player down because of poor performance/ effort, and the result is that the team has to put forward someone from reserve grade etc, we can support that decision

Benji is a second year coach last year Galvin this year Luai. He is not equipped to deal with this. It’s a problem we brought onto ourselves and the risk with a rookie. It’s a long shot it’s turned around unless we get serious recruits in and talented assistant coaches.

There is a team in there somewhere we need to go back to the drawing board in the offseason. Judge players on earlier season form and start from there.

Bula, Taylan May, Turuva, Douihei, Api, Sam Fainu, Terrell May, Twal, Sione Fainu, KPP, Makasini, Tavana were all solid early season. Hopefully Andrews, Latu Fainu and others come good but in reality aside from the collapse and weak minded team we need better players in struggling to see 20 first graders and we need say 25 capable in a top 30 to get anywhere

This is true.

Seems that way, but I think this year the Broncos season has also been derailed by Haas signing with Souths early on. The media won’t say it like they do about us all the time, but I think something has been wrong there from the beginning and my tip is this is it.

We have a long list of paying overs for players, but this must be the worst in NRL history.

Not even close to the worst the Wests Tigers have made. let only in NRL history ..

The brains trust running the new super club and are supposedly putting together the next super team think Luai is worth the same money and poached him from us

Benji has pretty much been coaching the swuad for around 4 years now, even under Sheens when they first returned it was widley reported he was doing the vast majority of it. The whole time our attack in the opp 20 has been non existant to diabolical.

I agree. A lot of coaches have success because they are man managers. Bennett for example. But they always have good people around them. Benji's assistants have no form on the board, and they also still have their "L" plates on. Check the NRLW for some promising coaches.

What is Benjis game plan? High completion rates, which to be fair has been executed and hope we run over the top. Its not working, for the sloan break and kick back into the middle the bloke who sits out games over standards couldn’t even run back, just in case
You mean he actually has one ?
