FRIZELL’S LONG JOURNEY

No one has had to play more footy than Tyson Frizell before reaching a grand final.

The Knights veteran will play his first grand final in his 306th game after stints with the Sharks and the Dragons before joining Newcastle in 2021.

Frizell, who turns 35 next week, is the only player without a deal for next season playing in Sunday’s grand final. However, he is expected to join Wests Tigers next year.

So too will his former Knights teammate Kurt Mann who passed a medical at the Tigers this week with a two-year deal likely to be announced by next week.

“I love the game too much to give it away just yet,” Frizell said.

“It’d be great to come away with a win.

“But in terms of playing on, I don’t think I’m ready to finish just yet.

“I’ve been playing every game like it’s my last, especially this back end of the year.”

The answer is investment - HBG makes plenty of coin but is not investing it in the one of the organisations it was founded to nurture and support. FFS, they are spending money on buying into rival codes when we are the least funded team in the league and have been floundering at the bottom of the table for 15 years as a result.

It is a bit like being in business and wondering why customers aren't coming though the doors when you aren't spending any $ on advertising.

Penrith once had a board that loathed spending money on the football department because it cost them money that they could be spending on their punters. It took time but they now see the benefits of investing in the football team (the advertising) to get punters through the doors.

IF HBG could be focussed similarly there would be no need for change - the facts are clear though - after 15 years we still see the minimal investment required in the football club. SM may have a plan to develop the best NRL pathways system in the world; but it isn't happening without investment!

Pretty much what I told them regarding why I wasn't renewing. Quoted Benji's' "respect gets respect" comment and how I felt HBG treats its members and fans with pure contempt.

Oh that, and how every year they or the football department always manage to make it embarrassing to tell people you go for WT

Derringer was our big hope, then came Attard our next big thing. Now its Breynton.
Fingers crossed we can replace Bula who should reach his full potential in the next 2-3 years' time, then drop off on performance because of age and injuries. HaHa "Never Ending Story"

Plenty of speed off the mark, a great swerve, a great step, good vision and ball playing ability, plenty of energy and unpredictability.
If it gets confirmed we have signed him it’s a good get as he has a bit of Reece Walsh x-factor about him.

A good mate of mine is a mad dogs supporter and right into the young guys coming through. Was telling me today about him, hes crying the dogs lost him. Reckons the young guy has the natural talent to be anything and cant understand why the Dogs would let him go. Reckons we got ourselves a real keeper with this young guy. Like always its up to him to put in, says though in his opinion his ceiling would make Bula look like a reserve grade fullback. Hes peed the Dogs lost him.
