‘It’s the truth’: compelling new WT doco

Any chance that this whole season , was designed too have us get hammered around the middle of the season , blow up and almost fall apart , only for us to rise and make a run toward the semis to close out the season ?
Would be pretty compelling TV . Just putting my conspiracy hat on .
Also has any team that’s ever been followed by a TV crew been any good ? Or is that the point , and like a car crash , that’s exactly where the producers look for a story ?
Tottenham , Sunderland , hard knocks etc.

Thompson is garbage mate . No way . And Vaughan is Tamou . A great front rower from a few years ago . Do you even watch the dogs . Thier forwards do not go forward . It is literally the reason the lose , as thier backs are pretty good , and on par with most of at least the bottom 8 teams .

Mate Thompson is not garbage. I’d advise you to watch the games more closely. And Vaughan is a million time better than Tamou. In his last game he ran for >250 metres. It would take Tamou 5 games to get to that number.

I do watch . He’s not good for the money they’re paying him. Tamou ran for 150 this week . I don’t see it sorry . You just hate on this team so much , you talk up the wooden spooners . It’s crazy to me . But whatever . For a game changing front rower he doesn’t seem to change , or even influence any games front I’ve seen . He’s definitely not better than Uto , and I rate Joffa higher . If Mika can sort his defence out , he’s better as well . So yea I don’t see it .

No . Not at all . The team thats 4 points behind the 15th place team , is garbage . And they’re because thier overpaid front rower is not as good as you make out .
It all starts with the forwards . They bought TPJ to propel them forward , but he’s not the guy to do that . He’s the guy to provide strike to a good pack needing something extra . Like the tigers or the knights .
The dogs struggle to break half way every set .

They don’t build enough pressure through their collisions to even be in most games . Where as we don’t build enough to compete with the top teams .

The Dogs are garbage man but I’m not talking about this year. Next year they’re getting Burton, JAC, TPJ and Vaughan who all would walk into our team. And contrary to what you’re saying, Thompson is quality. Wait until next year when he’s got someone half decent next to him.

If we had Burton, JAC, TPJ, Gus Gould, (idk who the others are) ... coming next year ... and if they get Brandon Smith then they're a 8th placed team for sure.

I wish we had those players coming next year... but no... our management bungled JAC and TPJ ... I mean why would TPJ want to come here after we wrote to the media saying "we are going in a different direction" and "he's not for us" and then two weeks later Madge writes in an article that we want him... cmon guys... absolute garbage performance off the field... like it is on it.

However I am still hopeful and delusional about us making the 8 this year hahahah🙂

You could be right. But like Parra they’ll rise and fall. We are building what Melbourne has had since inception here at the tigers. Guarantee that we’ll be higher than the dogs the following year.

I’m with you mate, but isn’t Madge the guy that decides who to have as his support staff ? Assistant coaches and advisers and whatnot ? It really looked like the staff of a local Reggies team in the box but with less ideas and care factor !! WTF is the go there? Yes men that didn’t even look like they were that interested in the game or were scared to talk or something.. whatever it is it is plain as day that all is not right in the coaching box in tiger town

@TigerNeddyK - I have no idea... i guess so... isn't a great indictment on Madges judgement - unless he is constrained by budgets etc. I also dont know what other teams boxes look like... but yeah ours is like an U10s team.

i should add - i have no problem with Simon Dwyer in the box - feel for him! but we need others in there that can help.

He has a specific job to do and how many assistant does one team need we saw the ones in the box what about the guys on the sideline with the bench more assistants won't fix anything

I think it could be just the way he carries himself, but Pascoe appears flippant. He could just be nonchalant type.

Madge really seems like he cares. I would think that the tactical stuff has been deliberately left out. The pep talks gave me the impression that they are not sticking to the game plan.

Poor little Lachlan could be as old as me before he sees us win a premiership.

in all seriousness though even though Madge is doing his best - I get the feeling that he's a bit socially awkward for the players... i dont know... maybe when he was younger and super agressive and had great squads he could just rip into them and they would respond...

but him trying to molly coddle the guys and be the nicer coach just seems really awkward and not because i dont believe he is genuine... i reckon he'd be a top bloke... but it just feels like the players are scared to voice their opinions...

i think its a combination between him trying to learn from his past mistakes of being too tough, and our players just being too soft and passive with their voices.

It was all a bit cringe and weird for me to watch.

basically its a cluster F from what I saw but geez i hope we make the 8!!!!

I support Madge as coach. However, watching that, I'm surprised Madge is riding the chance plays and lucky breaks so much. He sounded like a fan, where I thought coaches would have a bit more perspective and focus more on structure and planning. But maybe it was just focused on whenever he shouted rather than tactical talk. Whether he's tactically good or not, I think it'd be fun to play for Madge, always liked playing for angry coaches who want team commitment and energy.

But the problem was Pascoe. The way he dresses is bad, but I have rubbish dress sense too. What bothers me is the way he talks. No wonder we don't sign anyone. He seems like a great ground manager or someone to carry the bags and setup the field but he is embarrassingly out of place as a CEO. I just don't get the sense that people would learn from him or be inspired by him or lift their standard to match him.

Madge tried the hard line to toughen these players up for the NRL grind.....they didnt like it and thought they had to walk on egg shells....now Madge is trying what they call reverse psychology on them...hope it works....

Bulk respect for Madge after Episode 1. It’s clear that he’s an intellect and a good bloke who’s unfortunately surrounded by buffoons like Pascoe, Palmer and the majority of the playing group.

We need to trust his process, and invest in better support staff around him.

Yea me too . But they are paying overs galore man . TPJ is like 150k more than we offered . And that’s fine on a few players , if you have the gun juniors to fill out squad spots 25-30 on league minimum. But they don’t hVe that , and they just paid one of thier gun juniors 400k. At some point this will catch up to them . And thier forwards are garbage . Despite what you say . Add Vaughan and TPJ and they move up . Sure . But they’re clearly the worse team in The comp this year , and sure they bought well , but we didn’t really need to . We need 1-2 stars . That’s all we need .
We don’t need a roster overhaul . We have the cream of the crop juniors from the last few schoolboys sitting in our reserve grade . We just have to develop them .
The dogs have to pay Allan 400k to play for Mounties . That’s not sustainable .
I honestly believe in what the tigers are doing . And the dogs will be in the same heap they’re just pulling themselves out of . And Gus is going to have to do a miracle to pull them out of it . And it’s year 2 .
