‘It’s the truth’: compelling new WT doco

I wonder what the purpose of this program really is.

Ratings - yes.
Curiosity value - yes
Rawness - yes
Depth of what's actually happening in the mechanics of the club - maybe less so

I'm waiting to see each of the other episodes till the end.
There has to be a common purpose to this expose, something that the producers are aiming at and that our club wants as well.
Bring it on.

im not sure what people thought the first episode would be. It is literally setting the stage introducing the characters etc. Was hardly going to give away our defensive patterns etc.

What defensive patterns ?

The staggered let's run backwards (that'll fool them!) defensive pattern:joy:

“Hold” …”hold” …up !

We have a lot of Spech players ?

Something I’m now curious about - do other clubs usually have the CEO lurking around the dressing rooms during the game?

I thought there’d be some separation between the on field staff (players/coaches/medical/support) and ‘management’, at least until (well) after full time so any difficult discussions could be had without an unnecessary audience in attendance(?)

Fox actually requested when the at home scene's with Pascoe be casual..

Don't know anyone who sits by their pool in a suit..

Game days etc he was appropriately dressed in his Duck suit..

Quack quack

Brand exposure, pique interest in new or non-aligned supporters, humanise the club, get a little more control over the public narrative.

My guesses.

I think people realise, no matter where Tigers finish on the table, there is constant interest in what Tigers are doing. My guess is Fox believes that a Tigers doco is probably as interesting to non-Tigers fans than any other club, maybe even because Tigers aren't successful, it won't just be a constant success-a-thon like following the Melbourne Storm around.

Also I doubt they could go in-box with Craig Bellamy, it would be a non-stop expletive and stress experience.

In the box with Bellamy would make great TV though. It would have to start after 9pm I'd imagine.

I was actually surprised they aired this at 7:30pm without bleeping the expletives.

The professionalism I do question is the support staff. Are they not adding commentary to the games proceedings? It may be possible that they were told to leave it all to Madge or they were uncomfortable being themselves in front of the camera but it's not a great look when an assistant coach appears to be on his phone for most of the game.

This irked me so much.

They appeared absolutely useless, especially the muppet on the phone.

I still maintain that the Tigers reasons for doing this is to put Madge in a positive light ....

How many sack Madge threads have we had on here .....

Only plausible explanation for his actions-
he was scanning the forum game thread to harness our collective tactical genius, hence his silence. :upside_down_face:
Agreed though, not a good look.

Does it make a difference how he's portrayed though? I wouldn't care if he had the players on the rack whipping them before the game if we won.

It didn’t look great but we don’t know what he was doing on the phone. He could have been running an app collecting statistics on some aspect of the game.

Feel sorry for that kid. Missed the 1 in a lifetime gf win

You don’t need to feel sorry for Lachlan. He is my son whose loyalty and passion for the Wests Tigers is without question.

He has been to every game this year up to Round 16 until the Covid restrictions kicked in. Regardless of the result he will always stay until the very end and when the players leave the field he claps them off to show his support.

He loves this club win, lose or draw. I think we could all learn a thing or two from him.

What a champion son you have. Go Wests Tigers.

He's a little beauty!

Fair, but surely there's better technology for that.... and at some point you have to watch what is ACTUALLY happening on the field.

I dunno, the people around Madge just don't fill me with confidence.
