I'll tell you what, it's a killer, they show 1 hour of footage and the most talked about component is still Pascoe's hair. Of all the behind-scenes footage so far, it's the CEO's hair, which we already know all about.

Pascoe's hair needs its own thread, people have been banging on about it for a few years now.

That's ironic

It wasn't the clothes this time ...I was admiring his guns ....told you we needed a gun rack Ink

Well said - so refreshing to get a different perspective to the constant negativity that is in here. tell him to hang in there - things will get better.

My takes were:

- Madge
really like madge! Great to see his personality. Found him pretty funny in the box.
My favourite was when Ute had a run and madge said ' go you big bugger!'

- Assistants
Priority! Looks like madge does everything. Need an upgrade asap. Eberyone is quiet, look like passengers. Old mate at the back on his phone was a worry. Doesn't look like any senior assistant that can take pressure of madge and be a link with players.

- Pascoe
I'm not stressed by looks etc. But the standards he holds sets the tone for the club. The line about being casual may if been a slip but doesn't set a good impression. Saying we do things like most clubs, not good enough. We need to be better than every club and stay better. We need a new CEO.

- leadership group. Tamou, Deouhi, Twal, Noffa , Brooksy. Missing some authority in that group.
I'd say Deouhi will be the only one still in the group in 2 years time

Spot on about Pascoe and our leaders. If people haven’t heard Trent Robinson speak, that needs to be the prototype for your leader/s. Leaves no stone unturned, those flags would be faultless on his watch.

You're comparing a coach to a CEO - apples and oranges.

It just goes to show what we all know that the playing group is mentally fragile.. no amount of coaching can in-still that into individuals..

No matter how talented or skilful… Mentality comes from within.. no words can unlock it.. you can become resilient but only do it yourself.

It’s a generational thing IMO.. everyone gets a ribbon..

I’m not saying that isn’t true … Because it clearly is , but if it’s a generational thing , why is it only affecting Places like the tigers . The storm , they don’t recruit the best players all the time , like Nico Hynes is a prime example of this . He just wanted it more . Do we search for the exceptions not the rule ? If a whole generation are fragile , how do you find resilience ? Do we just recruit a little lower on the natural talent but A plus on the mental aptitude ?

This has to be What Adam Hartigan, Kimmorley , Tim Sheens and Madge would be having conversations about .
**For me , I’d look to America . Thier aptitude testing is another level . And the prima Donna egos floating around the NRL , are nothing compared to an NFL locker room . “The Patriots way” has to be something that’s looked into , as they do exactly what the storm do . Identify talented players , but ones with a real hard edge .**
How they do that , I have NO idea . But if we could tap into that knowledge stream , even just a little bit , it would go a long way to get us out this mess I reckon .

As a Patriots fan ive been talking about mentality on this forum for a number of years now.

Its an art to recruit mentality over pure talent. You still need talent but mentality is what wins championships.

We have about 5 players out of our 30 who may have it, the rest are lacking.

As Bill Belichick is quoted saying

“Talent sets the floor, character sets the ceiling” .

Every recruit should be looked at in this light.

TPJ for instance is not the right type of player. he has the talent so he has the floor. Trouble is it is widely regarded that he hasnt achieved his ceiling. he never will if he doesnt have the character.

I think that is what we are attempting to do - the young guys we are recruiting all have character and show real leadership qualities. Like most on here i hate the fact that we haven't been to finals in yonks and will probably miss this year and next but i can see where the club is heading and what they are trying to achieve. Our goal now is to keep these young guys together for a few years and keep their heads in the right space.

If i remember correctly i think Maguire has one of Belichicks quotes on the walls at Concord. No doubt he is influenced by it and trying to implement it.

Belichick however would have dumped half of these guys to the street already.

Much easier to do in the NFL

True - but i think its a lot easier to move players on in NFL than it is in NRL. We have been trying to move Mbye and Packer on for 2 seasons - not much you can do if no one wants them. But once again it shows that we are gradually learning from past mistakes in recruitment. Although the re-signing of Noffo on a long contract was a shocker.

It is much easier in the NFL, a little too easy sometimes but as a sport we are ten years behind when it comes to treating it as a business.

Some contracts ie Packer we cant do much about but other like Luke Brooks or Nofo we are a little too invested in the person and not the performance of the contract.

You can bet your last dollar clubs like Souths, Roosters, Eels and you can add Dogs now won't be doing this kind of Doco as it will expose there under the table payment system to Players, Families and player managers. I think we got choosing as we are so straight on the line and scared to even do $1 out of the books.
I sure hope they go into details about the junior systems we have put in place and the COE. We should be using this to show off our brand and what we are doing to build this club up.

Makes you wonder if it isn’t coached what is happening between the ears of a ‘first grade’ footballer when they can’t bring themselves to perform a fundamental aspect of the game.

Before the doco, some people were guessing and speculating things about Madge, But
what i've seen from the doco. confirms my belief that Madge is not only a Gentlemen, he is also a articulate speaker, very passionate about his job, knows how to connect with every player,
and knows how and when to send instructions onto the field but this time we saw that the person who was supposed to take the
Instruction on the field was very slow to react.

Thank God Mate, someone who actually stays on the thread topic.

After pages of what Pascoe was/wasn't wearing (totally irrelevant) - you would think you guys wear a dinner suit to Maccas.

I reckon it's great that your son looks at the club with the utmost devotion and can support them without question. I hope the club rewards him with sustained success in kind. Would hate for him to become disenfranchised with the club like some of us have!

I care little for how Pascoe looks. It appears that when it matters he dresses appropriately. I mean the players were being interviewed in casual attire, should they too have been suited up or wearing club regalia?

Realistically he's done OK off the field, the club makes money, one of the few that actually do turn profit and he has secured a state of the art training centre which will be a lot more attractive to potential signings than a weights set under a 30 year old granstand. Might actually assist the boys as well. For some reason we are still attracting sponsors despite a ridiculously stupid period of failure.

The professionalism I do question is the support staff. Are they not adding commentary to the games proceedings? It may be possible that they were told to leave it all to Madge or they were uncomfortable being themselves in front of the camera but it's not a great look when an assistant coach appears to be on his phone for most of the game.

Mate, I don't get it either, which is why I was of the belief it was being coached/

Fox actually requested when the at home scene's with Pascoe be casual..

Don't know anyone who sits by their pool in a suit..

Game days etc he was appropriately dressed in his Duck suit..
