Two things that stood out to me was Robbie Farah at the start saying”Madge needs to release the shackles a bit”. Interesting coming from this bloke, and the coaching position he has with the side atm. And against the Titans when cini dropped the ball and Simpkin dived to save a try Madge said”..........in young blokes”. I’m not a Madge fan , I think he is an old school screamer and his desperation wears thin, it’s obvious his all encompassing motivational rev ups have worn thin, and you can tell the players are thinking “not this crap again”, but I’ll give him credit, he put be on show BJ and he ripped into douihie against the titans for going missing, so on face value he seems consistent, although he should be really personally challenging a few other senior players also. What I laughed at was his inability to comprehend how the titans shifted from the kick off and scored. It’s called playing what you see Madge, very good smart football, identifying a weekness and exploiting it on the run. Laughed for about 5 minutes at his reaction.

I actually saw a man was more gobsmacked at his teams total lack of desire to defend it.
Yeah agree with that too, but it’s evident they are not playing for him.

Lack of care from the assistants isnt great. Maybe they just aren’t expressive but when something went well or when something went wrong it was the same blank expressionless faces from almost the whole coaching box.

Do they not want to see the team succeed?

Mentally weak playing group

Definitely need a physiologist

Maybe a psychiatrist or a sports psychologist/magician, but not sure if a physiologist could help out too much, but who knows really with this mob? ?

Yeah just needs some more ruthless players

Well I heard on the Grapevine that Madge was looking for some real men, unfortunately he presents us with Mbye and chee kam on the field, men that don’t really want to bleed for this club. Men getting $800,000 a season but is looking for a fresh challenge and refuses to run the ball with any purpose or dive into a tackle…. that ball into his bread basket that Chee kam dropped from Blore was disgraceful for a first grade footballer… It was a beautiful piece of balll playing from Blore that the kam massacred ……I still cannot quite believe it! Poor Sean, and Stefano , mate , he is leading that forward pack and some of the more experienced so called leaders should be taking a long hard look at themselves

Snoopy is far from impressive . Piss him off. Not a Madge hater but the way he talks to the players week in week out would switch me off and drive me nuts. I think it shows on their faces. Where is the captain in this debacle. Tamou is probably still digesting his oranges aft e r his 20 minute stint.

This has been a difficult year ….. we have a good core of young players but unfortunately the so called experienced players that are on our roster or that we recruited for that purpose just did not bring us anything even close as to what we needed.
Mbye, Tamou, BJL, Roberts, Chee Kaam, Packer, Musgrove, Liddle, Garner and Reynolds. That’s 10 players, one third of the roster with minimal impact on the field. You can not expect any level of success with liability like that hanging over the team performance.
You say nobody is talking in the sheds ….. I wander why.
Our recruitment needs to address this problem and I’m confident they will particularly now that Sheens is on board.
And yes Madge and Hartigan are in need of some assistance …. Im sure they have the passion and the vision to succeed but they will need to take on advice to how to tweak their coaching and recruiting methodology for success to be achieved.

Haven't watched either episode as while I think it's a good concept to show what coaching the WT entails, I just don't understand the purpose or objective of (making) it, considering we're a struggling team whose main focus should only be making some headway on the field.
(Plus there's a few games I simply don't wish to revisit just yet due to bringing back any personal heartbreak).
So please excuse me as my following remarks are mostly based off what I've read in this thread.

Agree with many that not much this year has shown that we're as competitive and driven as we'd all like us to be, but my question is could the filming of the documentary also have left players feeling perturbed and overwrought?
I understand the cameras were there during each game and we got a fly-on-the-wall type of observation of Madge in the coaching box. But what about the player pressures of having every action viewed under a microscope - I believe they already face enough heavy scrutiny and it's not just as an NRL player but as a WT player with a weight of expectations.
Reading the frequent mention of Madge's motivational talks (and how inspiring he sounds) and the criticism of the lack of leadership, communication and encouragement amongst the playing group has got me wondering why we're still so unresponsive and withdrawn in our reactions.
I've noticed from tonight's comments that he made reference of replacing the underperformers with the KOE players, and knowing that we persisted with them for most weeks, why isn't this also brought into the equation when discussing team effort, motivation and accountability?
I feel like our team selections have been critical to our poor performances.

Just from what I've read on here it appears it's painted Madge in a positive light yet has made the majority of the team look the complete opposite.

Chee kam did some great things last week.

The way he spoke of players like Simpkins and Cini is enough for me

Time to move on

So disgusted in this coach

Time for him and whoever hired him to move on

Couldn’t agree more Lauren. The only reason I can think of that the club would do this is for money off the back of a year when Covid would have impacted pretty hard.

I feel like it’s a massive distraction at a club that needs to be all in on winning 50% of their games (which isn’t even a lofty target).

It’s gimmicky, it’s cringe-worthy and it’s making fans re-live the crap year all over.

Cheers JP

Madge is trying to offload Mbye and letting MCK go..
We have a core group there he can build a team around but he clearly needs some Leaders and I mean vocal leaders to help these kids out.
Daine L, AD, Stefo, Blore, Joe O, Twal, LL, Simpkin(young but with no reserve grade its hard to give him experience).
I did not hear or see our so called Captain talking to the guys on or off the field so for me that's just not good enough. He should be the main guy talking instead of Madge in a lot of those occasions. Can you imagine a Wade Graham or Gutho playing and not talking or yelling to his team mates..

I didn't mind what he had to say, thought it was funny saying madge is highly strung.

I found that episode really hard to watch. My observations:
- Madge is really intense - don't blame him based on how the players have responded, but he does appear highly strung - as alluded to by Mbye.
- Madge is busting his gut to try to improve this club.
- The players seemed both relieved and over the moon when they beat St George, which gave me the feeling they want to do well.
- There is something really amiss in the dressing room - no one besides Madge was talking - why? because they don't care? I don't think this is the case, based on the few times I have seen them celebrate when they do win - because they don't believe in themselves? - possibly, because they can't relate to/believe in the coach(es) ideas? - possibly
That second episode probably posed more questions than answers. What I do really think after watching this episode is they desperately need Sheens' calm and experienced leadership.

Last comment says it all for me..as much as us supporters want to see the coach give it to them before the game .and after when they lose bad cause we are hurting..unfortunately that ain’t going to make any difference these days..and if most certainly hasn’t last 2 years ..whilst i have my own problems with RF ..just look at his eyes when he hears what is being said ..he knows what the players are thinking .Listen to the way Madge talks to RF when he replaced our good old defence coach “snoop” another old Cronny from Madges past . we have also got another one sitting beside him relating the messages. Macrae? Seems Madge has sold the Board and CEO that “tough” is the answer cause that’s what they want to hear given both clubs history and what has happened since 2011..but in this day and age with young people aka players this Is not going to be successful unless the team has a looong history of one successful coach like Storm. I run a global business and used to think “giving to to them” was the answer but have learnt that wont work so have mellowed and changed the way I try and fix these type of problems..Tim..is he the answer? Short term he will help ..look at the players he had in development before he got sacked..Tedesco, Woods, Slimey, Brooks , Brown, etc etc I would also think that his style of game is more suited to what is required now than just go and give it them in the first 10 mins
