My only problem with Madge is his failure to follow through - if he's going to threaten to bring reserve graders in he needs to actually **do** so at some point.

Understand you point but with no reserve grade and them been so young it would kill there development putting them out there against men and getting flogged. They would not be able to keep up with the pace of NRL with no game time under there belts.

I feel for Madge as he has no experience leaders that want to lead and unable to use the reserves to a point.. I think we will see a clean out at the end of the year but our main focus IMO is buying a few experienced players to help steer the ship. Unfortunately Tamau is a big disappointment in my eyes as he show no leadership at all.

No arguement there about Tamou. We are getting not what we were expecting from him.
The team needs leaders and players that play for the privileged of wear a first grade jersey. Unlike these prima donnas we currently have who are not showing this.
A handful are , but its not enough to get us over the line in most games.

Tamou was the biggest mistake made by Tigers. Average player at best, not a leader ( at Penrith he was surrounded by 4 co captains) as he is a mute. Made captain without having played for the Tigers. Plays average of 20 mins per game.Picking up his super pension.
Captainacy is so important, especially with a young roster in a team, as they are the on field voice of the coach and tactics.
Madge , I assume made decision to appoint Tamou captain and has to live with that decision and resulting failures of on field results.
I would have had LL captain this season. He is vocal, plays 80 minutes and always leads by example. AD no doubt is a future captain of the Tigers.

One thing that got me and honestly, I didnt catch it when it happened because I was too busy with what happened after..

The part where Madge says cmon Simpkin we're counting on you.. and he leaves this MASSIVE gap and rabbits go in to try and WIN the game..

He actually never moved across at all, he was gassed.. This is why Liddle and Simpkin should be a 1-2 hit.

Yes agree with that as he was run of his feet and not from a lack of effect. I believe that was his first full game and against one of the top teams he did great and that happened in OT.. He will get better but they clearly attacked him at that moment like a smart team would.

Yeah, I still believe he played a good game, the more he plays - the better he'll get.

That's why I hope he's named on the bench today.

That segment with Cini was special.

Though Doueihi’s sledge to Reynolds was classic.

I’m sure it wasn’t meant to, but it this episode does show that Jake Simpkin is not ready yet? But he is not alone unfortunately.

But he always looks enthusiastic from the sideline who needs cheer leaders when you’ve got Tamou

Nofoalooza and the gnome need to go

I think NOFA just goes with the flow, put players with heart and guts and watch him play harder, he’s not a leader unfortunately.

Biggest thing I saw in the doco was how much of a leader Doueihi is. Has to be named captain next year

That's the biggest thing you saw?

Maybe not THE biggest haha but was very evident

He's a leader for sure. What gets me is they all just sit there waiting for the speech to be over with no reaction. In one ear out the other.

Attention span of goldfish ..must be the generation

Been supporting this this for 21 yrs and Ive never
Seen such an unwillingness to play hard from them like they do currently. There lucky there’s no crowd because i would be merciless

With respect, maybe know a bit about what’s been happening throughout the year? Before making those sorts of comments.
The reserves have been coming through to play FG games all season. But, IMO some are just not up to it yet?

He has used Cini, Simpkin, Simpkins, Amone, Paugo and Tuilagi off the top of my head. I think he’s limited though as most of them aren’t ready for first grade.

They will be better for the Taste for it.

Not our Biggest Mistake by a long shot.

We have good young fwds that need the older guy to show them the way as best he can.

This is as much in training as it is in a Game.

The others in the squad (That we Keep) will need to increase in effort.

I agree the younger forwards needed an older leader, but Tamou is not that leader unless you want to know how to play short minutes and get the the big pay cheque.

I’m sure a lot here has seen reality tv shows and you get the contestants interviewed after the reality tv series has finished complaining about how they were portrayed, how certain situations wasn’t like how the producers made it out to be. Some people here take this documentary as gospel and make it out like they now know everything, how things are run and what goes on at in the club and make assumptions about players just because of what was decided to be chosen to be shown.

I agree 100% that people need to be VERY careful about what they assume about the club from a handful of episodes of a reality-style doco. For example we see almost nothing of training, we get almost no coverage of anything the assistant coaches say (they film Madge then cut away 100% of the time), we don't get anything that the players say in the sheds.

So far the 2 episodes have mostly been a focus on Madge and his rev-ups in the sheds. There was a bit on Pascoe in the first episode, and a bit more interviewing of Doueihi and Luch this episode (they were also miked up for the games).

So the responsibility all falls on Madge pushing for no results, which also makes the club look a bit one-dimensional in how it motivates its team for results.

I think you are right that it's a fairly one-dimensional (so far) take on the Tigers story.

So for example: I refuse to believe that the assistant coaches don't say anything to Madge during matches, or during half-time. If you paste together all the shots of Madge blowing up in the box, it would be lucky to be a handful of minutes total against the backdrop of several matches, i.e. only a fraction of total match time. And that is therefore easily explained - they edit in footage of Madge making a comment or blowing up, then cut away. Some people interpret this as the assistants being silent.

Episode 1 you hear Madge calling down to Snoopy constantly, but nothing of Snoopy. Some folks say "what's the point of this Snoopy guy?" This week shows you Snoopy running around and relaying messages.

You have to remember they are editing down maybe 100 or more hours of video into each episode… you can’t fit everything.

I must be the only one that thinks Madge isn't using tamou enough.....don't make him captain, but man get him out there for more than 20 a game.

On the plus side, how triumphant was that kid's mullet that was rolling down the hill??

I'll keep watching cos I love the club, but they have created a narrative of a passionate man fighting against difficult odds: passive players, silent assistants, institutional issues, and bad luck. Will our hero (Madge) flame out, or will things turn around? It's not to say the access isn't cool that they have, but they have shaped it.

One example: in my memory people didn't boo at the end of the Cowboy's game. It came at halftime. If they did I didn't hear them and I was in the stand. They must have mixed in half-time boos, at the end, to really make the moment when Brooks is emotional, 'land' hard. And it worked. He looked crushed and (fittingly) without words.

We will only learn about assistant's help if the producers choose to interview them and feature them.

I agree, I don't remember FT boos, only HT.

He did get a head knock in the 2nd minute of the Dogs game, maybe why he had limited game time?

Dunno seems he is only good for about 20 week to week from how the coaches use him, which I think isn't enough.
