I understand that this is all from an edited documentary but:
The playing group sits there like losing is a foregone conclusion and they are just waiting to get through the game, get yelled at, and get out of there. Just meek and soft. Very few seem to give a damn.
Madge is trying to get them up for a game but 1 bloke trying to fire up an entire team is going to be very hard. They desperately need a few hard players to buy in, lead from within the team, and for the staff to act like they care.
When people ask what is a Wests Tiger player- it is Luke Brooks. Very talented but very meek with no self-belief. I am hoping that Madge can be the hard coach and Sheens can be Uncle Tim when they need a cuddle.

This is exactly how I feel about the club. After Madge does a big rev up the air just goes out of the room, that’s where a Finucane just has to say something basic like “are we up for this boys” we just lack that killer in the group!

This fella looks like the type of guy you see at a local football game that sits on the sideline sipping his beer "contributing" towards the club he's supporting, but in reality..... he's a drunken wreck and has no idea.

Sack this guy - cant even give Madge a slight slap on the back after a win...

Are you okay?

Who is this? Looks like MIck Molloy….

Now cmon Toots

Snoopy is far from impressive . Piss him off. Not a Madge hater but the way he talks to the players week in week out would switch me off and drive me nuts. I think it shows on their faces. Where is the captain in this debacle. Tamou is probably still digesting his oranges aft e r his 20 minute stint.

You do realise that what they are showing at half time is the Fox take. They are not showing what Madge really said about indiv. need to pull their finger out, or that he is telling them to stick to the game plan, what the players are saying, or where they all think the weak spots are in the opposition etc. etc. All they want to show for some reason is Madge swearing - maybe they think that is what the viewers want.

The way he spoke of players like Simpkins and Cini is enough for me

Time to move on

So disgusted in this coach

Time for him and whoever hired him to move on

What did he say that was not correct?

So the responsibility all falls on Madge pushing for no results, which also makes the club look a bit one-dimensional in how it motivates its team for results.

I think you are right that it's a fairly one-dimensional (so far) take on the Tigers story.

So for example: I refuse to believe that the assistant coaches don't say anything to Madge during matches, or during half-time. If you paste together all the shots of Madge blowing up in the box, it would be lucky to be a handful of minutes total against the backdrop of several matches, i.e. only a fraction of total match time. And that is therefore easily explained - they edit in footage of Madge making a comment or blowing up, then cut away. Some people interpret this as the assistants being silent.

Episode 1 you hear Madge calling down to Snoopy constantly, but nothing of Snoopy. Some folks say "what's the point of this Snoopy guy?" This week shows you Snoopy running around and relaying messages.

I'll keep watching cos I love the club, but they have created a narrative of a passionate man fighting against difficult odds: passive players, silent assistants, institutional issues, and bad luck. Will our hero (Madge) flame out, or will things turn around? It's not to say the access isn't cool that they have, but they have shaped it.

One example: in my memory people didn't boo at the end of the Cowboy's game. It came at halftime. If they did I didn't hear them and I was in the stand. They must have mixed in half-time boos, at the end, to really make the moment when Brooks is emotional, 'land' hard. And it worked. He looked crushed and (fittingly) without words.

We will only learn about assistant's help if the producers choose to interview them and feature them.

I'm a little disappointed they used the Brooks footage to be honest, he was that upset because he was being abused by people on the sideline while being interviewed by Jake Duke. The stuff being said to him was disgusting and he was very close to going over the fence.

Hearing stuff like that makes me think Brooks would be better to move on. While I have no faith in the club to replace him with someone better, he deserves a go with some better weapons around him.

All these pea hearts need to do is totally rip in and have a real dig ..
I wouldn’t care if they never won a game again ..

I think that is the key. It appears they aren't trying at all during large stages.
If the team puts in and still comes up short people cop it.

Game I'm thinking of was we lost to the storm by 1 at LO (where moses missed a thousand field goals) our team tried their guts out all game and just fell short. People cop that.
Concede 18 points in 10 minutes against a fairly average titans at CO and it looks a whole lot different.

The sets on the weekend when players were just passing it to a guy near them who was standing flat footed were pretty low. Clear that nobody wanted to take a tackle.

Tamou was the biggest mistake made by Tigers. Average player at best, not a leader ( at Penrith he was surrounded by 4 co captains) as he is a mute. Made captain without having played for the Tigers. Plays average of 20 mins per game.Picking up his super pension.
Captainacy is so important, especially with a young roster in a team, as they are the on field voice of the coach and tactics.
Madge , I assume made decision to appoint Tamou captain and has to live with that decision and resulting failures of on field results.
I would have had LL captain this season. He is vocal, plays 80 minutes and always leads by example. AD no doubt is a future captain of the Tigers.

Mbye followed by Tamou shows some very poor judgment

I just watched the episode , it is embarrassing, Madge looks to be a really good person and he would possibly be better off getting sacked and moving on with his life .. he is not having success at the club and he looks miserable and he does not have the answers IMO .. Proffesional sport is just that, it’s results based and just because Madge is a top bloke and a good person doesn’t mean he needs to keep his coaching job.. he would get over it , it’s a shame but worse things happen to people

Totally disagree - it takes time to fix a basket case and that is what he inherited.

To those who think Sheens is the answer - he is employed for Pathways. He is not making major decisions in the NRL to my mind, might make a few suggestions, that is it.

Remember, he was sacked last time for running off the rails.

We are still mid season, anything tactical was never going to make the cut as opposition coaches will use it in game planning. Although I don’t know whether it would make a difference for us.

I still find it amusing that an organisation can re-employ someone they sacked and went to court with. Wow!

Yep, all in here too.
for me a simple but revealing moment was the Souths mascot wanting to catch Madge after the game. That bloke would bleed green and red.
He would have seen countless coaches and players come and go.
Souths have only won one premiership in the last 50 years.
Even the Great Wayne hasn't got them there again yet.
But who was the coach who did break a 43 year drought.
M Maguire. The Souths mascot hasn't forgotten.

Our First grade results are demoralising but Madge wanted the fight that is building the Wests Tigers into something.
Doco shows his passion for the club and no one questions the fact he is decent Man. Do whatever you can around him to help.
But sacking him and the instability that will bring, no thanks.
Stay the rebuild course- Juniors, strategic signings, cap flexibility for upgrades.
Start to second guess it now, we are nowhere.

Is coach the right man for the job? Debateable

Is he currently in charge of a good roster? No debate

Are we still paying 20% of our cap on Packer, Mbye, Reynolds and BJ? Yes

Bottom line he deserves a crack once that burden is off his shoulders.
