I have been a Balmain/Wests Tigers supporter my whole life through thick and (mainly) thin.

The whole thing is just so disappointing now.
I support the club no matter what and always have but now more than ever it’s so difficult.

I want us to keep Madge. I love some of our players but not the ones who don’t have a go. I played amateur sport and i would bleed for my club and my teammates.
Some of these guys seem to not give a shit.

I am now questioning for the first time ever why i give a shit.
Im not a fair weather fan as i have been with the club through everything.
Now im just about over it.

I will always love the club and the fans but I doubt ill be watching the Penrith game. My wife asked me why not and scoffed that I wouldn’t be and i told her I can’t handle the aggravation.

Same deal with the doco.
I have really enjoyed it so far even though its not what i thought it would be (not a patch on the format of “Sunderland til i die” for instance”).
How can anyone sit through the episode next week after all that’s happened?

If you can you’re a better supporter than me

Hi Tigerman0,
I am with you 100% and understand and feel the same despair as you are feeling. For all the diehard Tigers fans, watching these players who often seem to be just going through the motions and not exhibiting the effort and heart that we all feel for the club, well, it is very difficult to digest.

One thing I have been questioning lately is why I get so emotionally involved. After all it is only a game, one rarely played on an even playing field, with some teams stacked with talent and quality and others falling well short. The officiating is questionable and the Management of the game have agendas of their own.

Our team is mostly young and inexperienced and because of this quite brittle - a good example is that against the Sharks we had something like 13 NRL games of experience between the 4 bench players. We are drastically short on leaders and for that matter, out and out "competitors".

I believe that we need to focus exclusively on building and developing our youngsters and forget about finals for a couple of years - just concentrate on effort players who want to play together and improve each week. Develop that lacking "spirit", and the only players that we should bring to the club are guys that have 110% competitiveness in their bones.

I think Tigerman if you can accept such a longer term view you won't find the current performance so soul destroying.. stay well!

The quicker this club realizes our future is with our own kids the better we will be. Just ask yourself the question, have the guys that Madge has bought to the club really made us better. My belief is has put us back another year or two. He should have taken a handful of our young guys away to Qld to be around the top squad and to train daily with them but no, Madge wants the quick fix to save himself.
If you look at the Cowboys (and i know it sounds stupid as they are behind us on the ladder) but they are that far more developed for the future than us as all their kids have been given a run. They will be much better for it next year. How many Wests / Balmain juniors have been given a run this year. Our juniors are on a path to nowhere.

Laurie, Stefano, Blore, AD, Offa I can argue have been some of our best players this season?

They arent Tigers juniors although i suppose you could argue Ad is. The point i suppose im trying to make is we have bought Tamou, Jtj, Bj, Maumolo etc with no gain what so ever. Take Maumolo for example. He has been bought to the club for 3 years blocking the path of Scolari. Does he really offer anything more to us than what Scolari would have. Every time i watch that kid he looks like he has something but now he sits behind a Warriors reject. What hope have our kids got when they dont get an opportunity. Im all for bringing players to the club but not at the expense of our own.

You said have the players we brought to the club haven't made us better, I gave you a list of players brought to the club that have been our best players.

Fair call on the players you mentioned although i would argue against Offa - i don't rate him but maybe that is just me. So do you think Bj, Jtj, Tamou and Maumolo have offered us something. Tamou only plays 20 odd minutes a game yet we got rid of our Prop forward from Jersey Flegg who runs the ball with a bit of mongrel (as your props should) because he apparently only lasts 20 minutes. Go figure.

I believe Maumolo has offered something since his first couple of games here, much more than the winger on the other side of the field. I would offer Roberts a contract for next year if it was up to me. Joffa is fine and goes out and does a job for us, as long as he is played as a middle. Tamou has been disappointing in my opinion.

Both BJ and Roberts were signings with a limited timeframe in a bid to get us into the finals while we wait for the younger players to develop, I can understand those signings and I actually expect we will get a couple of similar signings for next year on team friendly deals with very limited time frames.

The club's strategy is not just to develop local juniors, it is to attract the best juniors from around the country and develop them into NRL quality players. Guys like Laurie, Stefano and Blore are examples of what I expect to see moving forward.

The tragedy is that we gave up on Momirovski (very low risk player), and dreamt that Roberts and BJ L will play motivated and be close to their best! A consequence of our false thinking "it is always better to buy a (ex) big name than a solid young player"!

Momirovski wouldn't have made a difference to our season, he is a good solid player. We got Laurie instead of Momo and he was our best player this season.

Laurie has been great but to suggest Momirovski wouldnt have been good for our backline this year is crazy. Cant agree with you on that one.

He is a good solid player, not a difference maker, he wouldn't have turned us into a top 8 side.

That is up for debate. Would he not have saved a stack of tries down that edge. You know the one that has leaked about 400 points this year.

I really don't think it is up for debate, he is a good player that will do a job with other really strong players around him. We do not have the really strong players to surround him with.

Then you really need to look at this in the real world, having momo means we don't have Laurie and we would be a much worse side without Laurie.

Have to agree the centre’s used this season we’re a joke ..off course Momo would of made a difference , a solid thinking player with good hands and great defensive technique .
I have a very different view regarding Laurie as with some other favoured types in the team .. I always have rated Momo as a quality first grader !

Then you really need to look at this in the real world, having momo means we don't have Laurie and we would be a much worse side without Laurie.

We will agree to disagree. Your point on Laurie (in the real world) would be he would have been coming next year anyway but now we are struggling for centres. We have robbed Peter to pay Paul.

We needed Laurie this year. As i said Momo us is a good player which is why we were able to get Laurie this year.

I think you are way off to be honest, our best players are the youth we are bringing to the club. Our strategy is quite clear, we are trying to attract the best youth and develop them to NRL players. Signings like Roberts were finite low risk contracts to try and get enough help to get us to the finals while the youth develops. These will be the exact signings we make leading into next year.

Anyway this is so far off topic that it is best we agree to disagree.

It’s obvious, we haven’t been very good at identifying and retaining quality players since Sheens left, we’re getting better. The re-signing of Nofa to a 4 year contract and dumping Moma are mistakes we couldn’t afford. Fortunately we avoided a spoon this season, because a few other clubs are a season or two behind us with a rebuild.
I said at the time , Moma was our first choice centre who could have played Fullback. If he was on the market today we would be crazy not to talk to him. History aside.

Which leads me to the point I made some time ago. Many little things such as the Sheens appointment announcement make me believe that the organisation is still disorganised. It’s difficult to see the success we all hope for while this continues to be ignored.
I can’t imagine recruitment offering Nofa a 4 year contract?

I am positive they were overruled.I like Nofo more than most but he would have only got 2 years with a 1 year club option from me.At his age he needed to be kept hungry

Where is brooks

One thing I have seen all through the season and the documentry is that Mbye might not have been the best form wise but you can see why he was captain because he is the only bloke who actually talks ever in the sheds. He is an actual leader of men even his ability lets him down. I will also say that he has been better at fullback then any other position
