After watching Melbourne tonight how good were Cronk and Slater. I have no problems with our our 6 and 9 I dont think there is a better 6&9 in any team, However, our 1 and 7 would be one of the weakest in teams in the top 8\. If we can get this right we will nail any team. Sure we have beaten Manly and Saints recently but the consistently is not there.

We rely far too much on Benji and Robbie. Lui and whoever maybe at fullback don't deliver week in week out. Sure Robbie and Benji have there off days but our 1 and 7 have more off days than good days.

Thoughts and comments ?

Fullback has been our weakness for years now. Since Hodgson left we had anyone at fullback who was any more than a decent player. Brown, Moltzen, Meaney, Gallant, Ryan, Fitzhenry, McKinnon have all had a crack and have had varying results, but none have really blown me away with their ability consistently. It's a shame really, as well as Brown played at the back end of last year, with a quality fullback we would have won the comp. The other 7 teams in the finals either have world class players at fullback (Slater, Stewart, Boyd, Bowen, Gidley) or gun juniors (Hoffman, Locke). We're really behind in this department.

We've had a few okay halfbacks, Lui, Moltzen and Miller, in the past few seasons. None of them are world beaters though, but they really don't need to be, they just need a little variety in their game, and they need to give Marshall good ball. Moltzen did it well, Lui has shown glimpses, Miller has a lot of potential. None of them at this stage are rep material, but if the big guns fire around them, we can win a comp with any of the 3 at halfback. Of the 7 others in the 8, only Brisbane, New Zealand and Manly have 5/8s who control the game rather than their halfbacks, which is what we have, so the comparisons are not really accurate, but we do have the weakest halfback of all the top 8 (Cronk and Thurston are world class, Mullen, Wallace, Hornby have all played rep footy and are proven performers, Johnson and Cherry-Evans are future superstars of the game).

Melbourne's 1 & 7 > Tigers 1 & 7
Tigers 6 & 9 > Melbourne's 6 & 9

Each team has different strengths. As long as we play to our strengths then we can beat anyone.

Plus I think our forward pack is performing better than Melbourne's at the moment, and maybe even the best in the top 8 in the last six weeks.

i think to win the comp you need a team spirit more importantly than the 1 and 7\. We have the best player in the world, we have class across the park. watch this space.

I think Melbourne's 1,6,7 and 9 are the best in the competition no question .Slater ,Widdop Cronk and Smith Tigers probably have the advantage in the centres and back row . Up front all square At this stage this would be the best grand final clash

Mate, a Tigers v Storm GF would be great! Would love for us to have a crack at them in the big one because, no matter how awesome their form or talent as a team, they often struggle to beat us - we are a bit of a bogey for them and I reckon they know it
