2 massive weeks coming up

The next two weeks, I feel, are crucial to set the tone of our season.

Two games. Both away. Both at very difficult places to win. Both against teams that (I reckon) are inferior to ours, but always play 100% better at home.

If we can snag wins against the Raiders and the Cowboys I think it will set us up for a very strong season (and also a massive crowd on Friday Night Footy vs the Dogs).

It wont be easy, but if we turn up with the right attitude and keep smashing them in defence we can do it!

Not to make light of the Raiders, they are a physical side but can be beaten with patient play. The most important thing apart from the win is coming through unscathed with injury or suspension as the turnaround to the tropics is always a hard one physically

Watched the Cows last night…..they are paper thin...we should win both games, If we do 4 from 5 given our draw
Manly,Chooks,Eels,Raiders and Cows is a massive start to the season

It just goes to show it's all about attitude. We were horrible against the Roosters. But I thought last night was one of our better performances as a team, especially in defence.

I agree, if wests-tigers can consistently be solid in defence, the opponents will become frustrated.
this leads to taking chances, which can lead to errors.
.
stay focused for game against raiders, defend well.
be patient as posted previously, and the result should be in favour of wests-tigers.
.
then once that game over, prepare well for cowboys game, and do the same.

We win the raiders game with our attack and the Cowboys game with our defence!
Round 6 v the Dogs…....................a friday night that will see us win and grace the top of the table IMO!

the Cowboys are terrible… Raiders imo is a much harder game.

But you just know that Thurston will pull something some his backside.

Our luck Bowen will come back that game too. :brick:

It's not the team, it's the team and the conditions with the Cows

I'm confident of the Tigers winning in Canberra. Even when the Tigers have lost in Canberra, they have generally been close losses, playing there doesn't seem to worry the Tigers as much as other sides.

If the Tigers show the same attitude and great line speed in defence, they'll take the Raiders comfortably IMO. Canberra will try and go through the middle of the Tigers so it's important for the forwards to stand up again. The Tigers have too much attacking class and too many options for the Raiders to handle.

Cowboys will be a different story, that game will be more open and keeping the pressure on JT wil be the key. The Tigers shut him down well at Leichardt last year, a repeat of that will help take care of the cows.

We do need to win a few away from home and these two games provide the opportunity for that. We seem to be be following the Titans in the next few weeks. They play Canberra tonight and play the Cowboys next week I believe. Maybe they can knock a bit out of those two teams before we get to them.

In my opinion, the Raiders game is a real danger game. We have to show up mentally or they'll do us. One of those games we are expected to win and easy to be a bit over confident after last night's performance. But a must win game if we are to make the 8 - we have to back up last night's effort. I think we have the maturity to that this year.

For mine although the Cowboys may have been dominated by dragons and Canberra coming off a win against Brisbane, the Cowboys are still a much bigger worry for us. We seem to have a good record against Canberra and seem to normally know what it takes to beat them. As for the cowboys when we play them up in North Queensland we often seem to struggle and if Thurson is playing well, no doubt it will be a very tough match.

No disrespect to Canberra but it's definitely the easier of the two games. Sunday arvo, early april, away from the cold. Good time to be down there i think. If we turn up to play, we'll get the points, we've just got too much ammunition for them to worry about. On their day the Raiders are a stubborn bunch but since Carney left they've never recovered. They're really in a rebuilding phase at the moment hence their recent struggles.

The Cowboys in Townsville early in the season is always a danger for us though we seem to have done it more than other sides in recent seasons. I can't remember the last time we didn't play them up their within the opening 6 weeks of the season. With out Bowen they're a little one dimentional and we do seem to have always troubled Thurston in recent years. No doubt though they're the stronger of our next 2 games.

From what i have seen of the Cowboys they are woeful terrible defensively but they are a different team up their compared to in sydney, you just have to match up physically with them and hit Thurston every time he has the ball don't sit and watch his dummies cut his time down and he makes mistakes an d plenty of them.

The Raiders are always a worry they are a 40 point better team at home and they have some good young players there, they were always going to up against it this week with the amount of ball they spilled and backing up from Monday night early on in the season (no team has won doing it in the 1st 2 weeks) the fact the game was even as close as it was is a testament to their attitude in defense, we have to be clinical and play 80 minutes of good football to win although the same could be said for both games.

even if we were able to come out 1-1 from those 2 games I reckon i would be happy with that a clean sweep and i would be exstatic.

there is no excuse for losing either of these games.
We showed friday what we can do if we apply ourselves mentally.
Gus Gould made some good points in his article yesterday.
If they come out in both games with the same attitude they will win both matches comfortably.

If we are a genuine Top4 contender, these 2 are must wins. It's simple, if we play to our ability we will beat both sides.

And what if the other teams match the attitude?
Your post just highlites how easy it is to stray from the right attitude

i liked how the tigers shut down hayne on friday night gave him less time and less room to move
if we can shut down thurston against the cowboys up there and play their game physcially
we should win
against the raiders, sharp defence and back to back trys with alot of attack should get us the 2 points down there

i loved the tigers defence on friday night they need to keep it up and theyll be one of the teams to beat this year
as andrew johns said " if the tigers were all about attack theyd win the comp but thts not the case"
