20 Years, what has changed?

I rate Maguire as an astute judge of character and ability. Interesting he said this result does not require a rebuild. This was the same team that showed resilience and came back against the Broncos. It comes down to attitude and how we play the mental game. We just got outplayed today. I’ve seen our team do the same to the opposition in past seasons. I think we have it in us. You see results like today’s when teams get out of the blocks strongly. We need to turn up ready to play, start strong and stay in the game for 80 minutes. Add to that defence that can’t be broken, hang onto the ball and maybe have a little luck on our side. Simple really 😁

The calibre of players and coach since 2000 has changed massively. Also the distance between best and worst sides.

Tigers are 3-3 and sitting in 9th after today - that's about where we are realistically and where we tend to be historically. Always middle pack and typically just fading as the finals loom. But that's the shoestring budgets coming in to play, if you reckon Tigers spend off-field anything like the Broncos, Roosters etc.

I think most comps everywhere in many sports from pro to amateur & juniors have teams that are generally successful, some that fluctuate with success and vice versa... And teams that generally fail/make up numbers... We are the latter

@StarswithStripes Well If McGuire said that you can be sure there are going to be players moved on ! This group of players are losers and on the talent level not rated very highly ...If McGuire is such a good judge of talent he must be holding his tongue or he is a fool!

@hybrid_tiger The reality is that we are a losing Club with a losing culture. Won a premiership in 69', made no semi finals in the 70's, four in the 80's, one in the 90's, two in the 00's and none since. It's an appalling record that asks more of a supporter than one should give. Apologies to Magpies, but from memory your record was even worse? We are the 21st Century version of Newtown and/or Norths. I feel sorry for McGuire, he's caught in a Bermuda Triangle of mediocrity. 'At the Tigers we remember the years we made semis, at the Bulldogs they remember the years they didn't' - Anon

@Snake trying to stay positive but hopeful Madge can use his judgement and turn this playing group around. Next week will see if the team wants to respond the right way or make him look like a fool.

Well apparently we're great off the field doing stuff in the community etc. Maybe we should just become an NGO and forget about Rugby League.

Nothing has changed. Its all in our history.
A loser club called Balmain Tigers merged with another loser club called Western Suburbs Magpies and formed a super loser club called Wests Tigers. Since then a huge amount of losing has continued.
Yesterday was an embarrassment but far from the first time.
