2005 Promos

Benjirific

Just noticed something that I find a bit distasteful in the 2005 celebration promos that the club is doing. As you'll see in the pic below, they've photoshopped out the sponsor JFTA from any of the pics from the GF and just replaced it with an orange spot.

Since I doubt it would have been thought of by Meriton, I assume this is a management decision from Mayer, but I find it to be typical of a management who don't seem to want to acknowledge anything that happened before Mayer arrived at the joint. If they had any knowledge of the JFTA sponsorship, they would be ashamed of trying to eliminate it from history.

The fact is the bloke who owned the joint, Col, became major sponsor as a favour because the club was struggling so much. He couldn't actually afford it, and hasn't sponsored the club since because he couldn't afford to any more, but the fact that he offered up his money when the club was in need should be enough for us to thank him by keeping his company on our jersey, something that is a fact of history. Having met Col and chatted to him a couple of times, I really feel p'd off that the club would shun him in this way, and I hope it will be rectified.

JFTA is a company which operates within the construction industry and as such is a direct competitor with our current major sponsor Meriton.

With that in mind, club management has done the right thing by the company which is currently paying the bills.

Nothing needs to be rectified..

I agree , it's pretty distasteful .
I worship my JFTA jersey !
I wouldn't trust Mayer as far as I could throw him !

I thought JFTA were in the Petrochemical service industry ???

Doesn't really tie into building apartments !

They clean up chemical sites, they not a construction company.

And all of that aside, if JFTA hadn't paid the bills in that year, there's a good chance the club wouldn't be here today! You can't re-write history, which is what they seem to want to do

"JFTA, which is over 30-years-old, has about 80 employees and forecasts turnover of $40 million for the current year. It focuses on end-to-end services in design, engineering, construction, equipment manufacturing and supply, along with maintenance support.

It also provides petrochemical services and fluid handling. The company was contacted this morning – it continues to trade – but referred enquiries to Jirsch Sutherland."

I still think it's petty to remove their logo from the promotional pics IMO

I would agree if they weren't in direct competition with our current sponsor.

If you were paying millions for sponsorship that really didn't improve performance but helped out the club, how would you feel if they gave a leg up to your rival ?

They're just being professional.

Profesional would be using photos where you cant make out the sponsorship. This just looks like we didn't have a sponsor.

Seems like the club doesn't only want to forget the long gone past but also its recent history.

Yeah good point.

If they did care about our recent history they should be recognising the greatest achievement in our short history.

Oh wait..

I agree , I doubt 'Meriton' would care about seeing the sponsor of our Jersey from ten years ago to promote one game ..:unamused:

Seems like Mayer has mastered photo shop as well as video editing !

On a professional level, the quality of the retouching is disgraceful. The main objective as a Retoucher is to do your job without anyone noticing. This is a photoshop fail.

 Mayer the Jack of all trades..

No but seriously, our company has dealt with Meriton and Triguboff before and he is a tough and uncompromising character.

It's his way or the highway and his way is all about that money. You would think that someone already worth $7 billion wouldn't care but trust me Harry well and truely cares..

No but i work in the construction industry and my father's company has sub-contracted one of their building sites.

I've witnessed first hand how he deals with his employees and he comes across as a very uncompromising person driven by one purpose - to make money.

It's just shoddy. Blanking out the past is not only petty, it's pathetic. I can't see how this exercise can in any way be considered professional.

If he thinks his millions of dollars in sponsorship does nothing for his company then why would he think another companies logo on a few pics would help his their company? That doesn't make sense.

Prior to this thread i had no idea what JFTA was or what they did. Now i know.

Meriton doesn't need that exposure because everyone already knows what Meriton does and their operations are directed at a market that wouldn't have any idea what rugby league is in any case (Asian markets).

Sponsoring a rugby league club that is know in 2 states in one country does nothing for Meriton but JFTA who is much much much smaller than Meriton and operates with partners in Queensland and across the country could gain a leg up.

Regardless, the type of person that Harry is would be enough to make him not wanting JFTA to be advertised
