2010 Jersey Design Vote

Make sure you tell them that this fan is old school and prefers simple jersey designs without childish claw marks etc… Number 3 for me!

I like it simple, am not a big fan of the claws on the 2nd one.

Id much rather a jersey which simply has an orange stripe, then a black one, then a white one.

Or even a take off of the roosters jersey seen here (http://www.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,,6594348,00.jpg) where the main colour is black with orange and white small stripes, or a mainly orange one with small black and white stripes

cool.
I think it does look better that way. Would deffinetaly buy one of those.

Does anyone else find it a bit annoying that our jersey design changes every year? Why do we have to do this? Can't we keep the same design for a few years at least?

I do like set 2 though… if I had to choose.

It is annoying, but it happens everywhere, there are very few sporting teams these days that don't change their uniforms every few years.

The reason it happens is simple. Money. If there is a new jersey people will buy it and the suppliers and the clubs make money. If there was no change then no jerseys would be bought and there would be no major profits to teams. See below for a good example.

Your point is not uncommon among fans and influenced me in making these jersey designs.

The reason I designed these jerseys was two fold,

1) Originally to suggest ideas for the 10 year jersey (before it was released).

2) To create a jersey that the team could use for a long period of time

With that in mind I designed jerseys that had elements of jerseys from the past but also that had a new feel to them.

MEDIA RELEASE
A record $113 million in NRL merchandise sales has sparked one of the most competitive tender processes in the game’s history.
>
Just as fans raced in to buy the latest supporter jersey, iconic Australian brand Classic Sportswear has won the race to be the NRL’s official supplier of supporter and mascot apparel.
>
The four-year deal with Classic Sportswear, which runs from 2009-2012, comes as fans continue to show their passionate support for the game and their team.
>
That desire for fans to show their ‘team colours’ generated $8.5 million in royalties for clubs in 2007 - up 28% from 2006.
>
“It’s important fans know that when they purchase their team’s jerseys and club supporter gear that they are not just showing their support for their team, they are making a valuable contribution to their club’s future,” NRL Director, Marketing and Commercial, Paul Kind said today.
>
“The revenue NRL merchandise provides for clubs is the equivalent of a significant sponsorship deal. NRL Supporter apparel alone generated
>
$10 million in sales last year and continues to grow along with the popularity of the game.
>
“There has never been more interest in this range of merchandise, both at a commercial level and among fans, and we welcome Classic Sportswear’s commitment to giving Rugby League supporters a new and exciting range of apparel.
>
“Classic Sportswear’s innovative designs and concepts will keep fans in touch with all the latest fashion trends while showing their support for their team at the same time.
>
Queensland clubs have led the growth in merchandise retail sales with Brisbane (first), Gold Coast (second) and North Queensland (fourth) joining the Bulldogs (third) at the top of the list, while South Sydney’s first finals appearance since 1989 sparked the biggest increase in merchandise sales among NRL clubs.
>
The four-year deal gives Classic Sportswear another reason to celebrate - in 2009 the company celebrates its 75th anniversary, while Jim Brennan and Tony Magnus will also celebrate 20 years as co-owners of the business.
>
“The addition of the NRL supporter and mascot apparel license is a major part of our anniversary celebrations,” Mr Magnus said.
>
“Our Australian business is truly multi-cultural with around 20 nationalities of birth within our staff supporting a large cross-section of NRL clubs in a reflection of the history of Classic Sportswear.
>
“Over the past 75 years, Classic Sportswear has been involved with the vast majority of Rugby League clubs.
>
“Now we have a unique chance to work with the NRL to ensure Rugby League remains a leader in sports fashion in the Australian market with designs and fabrications developed to identify with our favourite teams and also with our Australian lifestyle.”
>
Classic Sportswear is a current NRL licensee for special events apparel and is the official 2008 Rugby League World Cup apparel licensee.

r we changing our jerseys AGAIN?
i have 11 of them n now its going to be 13 next year.
we havnt had the current one for long. i like the current jerseys.
i think we should keep them another season or 2 at least before changing them. we should also wear the white one next year as well.

Craegus, would it be possible to see the Proton logo from set 1 into the jerseys in set 2? Why do they need to say 'Proton cars? Proton should make it seem like they are well known and that we should know they are cars. If Holden was a sponsor you wouldnt see 'Holden cars'. You know what I mean

As per request

Actually, the magpie is the same size as the one on our jersey now (or at least close to {purely by luck}). On the current jersey the magpie would fit vertically in the Liugong logo 2 and a half times.

As this vote seems to be done and dusted as one set has a 42 vote lead,

I am declaring Set 2 the winner.

A new vote is going up to decide 2 things:

1) Which orange version is preferred (original design or bottom black and white reversed)

and

2) Should a striped version be included as a 3rd option.

I dont have that problem ,I have one jersey… the original West Tigers, end of story .

All 3 of the designs are quite good! But the pick for me is set 2, definitely a winner
