2010 Wests Tigers trials.

Lazarus is no chance to play on the wing. Probably be rotated by the likes of Brown/Daniela/Fitzy.

Good to see we're playing proper trials this year against NRL sides … not the worst team in the State Cup. Now we have games against the two worst teams in the NRL. Should get us ready for Manly round 1... 😕

 All teams are at their worst…......it's trials.......

After last years debarcle with the Titans :unamused: ........it's great to have it nailed down.......even if it is the Rorters, Sharks and Cowgirls...All 4 teams with something to prove in 2010........

We'll be ready for the Manly scum............

mate as a parra fan i couldn't agree more.
I Hate Manly bloody Silvertails.

Benji, and one other (I'd say Ellis cause Tuiaki won't be fit and Smith counts Farah out) won't be playing the first game cause they will be required for the All-Stars game.

As a result I can't really see Sheens playing a real full-strength side against the Cowboys (who themselves will be missing Thurston, Bowen, Webb and at least one more). Add to that that Farah won't have had much training because of the 4 Nations, I think that we will get a chance to see some fringe players shine in this game. Guys like Taumata, Lui, Flannagan, Brown, maybe Mullaney, Woods, Gower, Shirnack, Prichard, Mataka etc.

I'm looking foward to these games though, because he definatley will play full strength for at least half of the Foundation Cup (mainly because of the PR involved), and probably for around 55-60mins of the last game, which should be very interesting. Just remember we have only won one serious trial since 2003 (last year against Souths), but I think '05 is the only really poor Rnd 1 performance since then. They are good for a run, but not to worry too much about the result.

By worst I meant the teams that came last and 2nd last this year … Indeed any first grade opposition is tough opposition but I wouldve liked to have seen us go up against some tough competition in the pre season, despite it counting for SFA and teams not being at their peak, but still, we had Souths, Roosters and Shellharbour in 09, now these 3 in '10.

Lazarus is no chance for the wing. Maybe Sheens will rotate teams by half like he's done before .. a sort of possibles and probables side like I think he did in the '08 Foundation Cup.

The fringe first graders from this season will get a run - a la Schirnacks, Dwyer, Mataka, Gower, Pritchard, Lui, Fifitas, Woods, maybe even Mullaney and a few others.

As much as it's good to give the fringe players a run though, I'd like to see our strongest/highest potential halves combo stick together for the three matches. ie whoever looks best together at training get a go in Mackay .. if they gel well, then keep them for the next two, if it doesnt work out so well in a game situation, maybe tinker with it for the 2nd trial. It'll help out come Rd 1 IMO. You can train together all you like but a game situation can change things alot.

id love to go watch, but i just looked at flights and the cheapest i could get was with virgin blue at $350 return, not to mention the cost of a hotel, ground entry, food , taxi from airport to ground and taxi back to airpot ,think ill give it a miss,

There is a nsw cup player from last year training with first grade who is apparently training the house down,he is the fittest in the club by a long shot and is a back.he played at 85 kg last year and has put on 10 kg in muscle in the last couple of months, folkes is more than impressed by the way this youngster has progressed.. stay tuned..

Could be Pritchard or Daniela.

It's probably Pritchard. He played at around the 85kg mark last season and was 18th man in the last couple of games. Could be a darkhorse for this season. We know he's got plenty of pace but if he's 10kg heavier and one of the fittest in the club then he could perhaps push for a FG spot this year.
