I thought the Players and Owners were never going to get it sorted.

What we do with Kolb and who we are aiming for in the free agent pool is really interesting

i think Kolb is realy good trade value
would be a starter on a lot of teams
i've heard the Eagles are looking at Albert Haynesworth from the Skins
i'm realy interested to see what happens with McNabb.I think he's a good chance of ending up at the Cards

i would be surprised if kolb didn't end up at arizona.
eagles should get great value from the trade.

Very happy that McNabb has gone to the vikes, its that spark they need. I think some teams are going to struggle spending te minimum cap amount too.

that was a huge surprise when they got nnamdi.
was hoping he wanted to stay in the bay area and go to san fran.

49ers started out slow and got some good value that strengthened the team this week.
can't believe i will be watching the 49ers first pre season game this friday night.

Hey Bon as a massive Cincinnati fan im interested to know what you think of our 2 free agency pick ups from the 49ers in Manny Lawson and Nate Clements.

Lawson seems dependable rather than spectacular but im happy with that.
Im not sure about Clements though, as usual Mike Brown screwed up by not offering enough to Johnathan Joseph so he walked off to Houston and we had to scramble and sign Clements to replace him. Now i just cant get excited about Clements as i think he is a downgrade on a player like Joseph. Please tell me im wrong and clements will exceed my expectations.

Anyway it looks like this year will be a struggle for the Bengals AGAIN, but im really excited as i cant wait to see AJ Green playing in stripes. Just hope our O-line can block well enough to give Dalton enough time to get the ball to him.

Anyone got a pre season prediction for superbowl combatants?
For the NFC its hard to go past the Packers and Eagles who both look like being powerhouses this year but i always like to go against the favs so i will lean to whoever wins the South. Should probably be New Orleans especially as they look stronger in the running game with Mark Ingram but i would love to see Tampa Bay win as Josh Freeman is one of my favorite non bengals players and i have always had a soft spot for them since first watching them play in the 80s with their bright orange outfits and horrible performances.
As for the AFC well once again i find myself falling into the trap of thinking San Diego will finally take the next step. With Vincent Jackson getting what he wants and back to concentrating on football i can see Rivers shredding opposing teams. Also expecting Ryan Mathews to have a breakout season as long as he stays injury free. Usual suspects in Patriots, Jets, Ravens and Steelers to be the biggest dangers. Always dangerous writing off Peyton Manning but i can see the Colts sliding this year.

The D Lines of the Pats and the Saints make for some brutal affairs through the season (assuming people stay fit)

unfortunately pokies nate is a big downgrade.i was hoping we would land joseph.but i am fairly happy we got carlos rogers in the end.
nate is good against the run, plays a real physical game at corner.i think he is now better suited at strong safety.gets beaten against the pass too easily.
not sure how strong you are at safety but you would of been better off keeping joseph and throwing nate at safety.

manny is a solid player, just doesn't do enough rushing the passer.i was happy we drafted aldon smith to replace him,but would have prefered we cut paris haralson and kept lawson.
good locker room guy though, and will be an asset to the bengals.

as for a.j green,he was a class player as a freshman in the sec.
and i expect him to do the same at the pro level.
the problem will be consistently getting him enough ball.

Thanks for the breakdown Bon.
Unfortunately though you have pretty much confirmed my fears about Clements. Interesting that you think at this stage of his career he would be better off at safety as our current safety starters Chris Crocker and Reggie Nelson i would classify as journeymen at best so could have been a nice fit for him at that position IF we had kept Joseph.
I guess i can hope that Pacman's neck will come good and by some miracle he stays out of trouble off the field. Then we could move Clements into a better fit.
Read a rumour that the 49ers were considering moving Taylor Mays on. Wouldn't mind having him at the club.

I'm a San Diego fan and while I am quite confident in our chances this year with Vincent Jackson back and Antonio Gates finally fit I think that the two teams to beat this year will be Philli (the dream team) and Pats (Brady is just that good!).

Some great match ups in the opening week of college football. The pick of them would be Oregon vs LSU which I'm currently watching along with my beloved BSU playing against Georgia which is also another great game. Shocked to see TCU go down to Baylor.

Oregon were hyped up way too much pre season, supposedly their offense was supposed to be 'wow" but LSU gave them nothing and won comfortably.
Chris you should have a fun year with Boise State, they have a great shot at making the National Championship game.

I dont know Pokies, their schedule might work against them again this year. Especially with TCU losing to Baylor. I'm thinking teams like Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU will get bigger pushes than Boise State. I think that Kellen Moore might have a good shot at the Heisman Trophy this year. He just missed out to Cam Newton last year.

Speaking of Cam Newton that was a pretty unbelievable debut performance in round 1 against the Cards.
Watching him in pre season i thought he would struggle to be honest as he didnt look comfortable in the pocket at all and seemed like he just wanted to get out and use his legs.
Looked a completely different player on the weekend. The interesting thing now is will he be able to perform consistently? Arizona's D was terrible so surely has to be some doubt but at least for now i guess the Carolina fans have hope that their #1 pick wont be a bust.
