im hoping they have learnt from those mistakes which i was talking about and we see a smarter wests in 2012

If you go back through the history of the grand final winners you find that most winners have had outstanding halfbacks, we had one in 2005 and we let him go.

he wanted to go

Yeah, he had a missus and they were both from QLD. She wanted to go back and as far as I saw it, it was only a matter of time before they did.

Pretty sure it had something to do with her job with Fire services
She couldn't do the same job in NSW as she could in Qld if I remember correctly

Also agree with Cunno that a good halfback would go a long way to solving the problem - one who had the maturity, experience and authority to overrule Benji and Robbie when necessary. Unfortunately, there aren't any of them in the wings for the Tiges.

thats why we won the comp in 2005 when we had scott prince

we could have won in 2006 aswell if the injury gods didnt declare war on us, and the nrl also let defenders slow the play-the-ball down heaps. those 2 things stuffed us up big time

Yes, agree with the comments on this although I can't find issue with say Marshall kicking out on the full as it was a poor execution not a poor decision.

yeah but sometimes they try to kick it very close to the sideline when they dont have to and it increases the chance of it going out on the full

dont worry, come the start of february im sure we'll see an article from farah stating how much the warriors finals loss hurt, how much the squad has learnt from it etc etc. the round 1 we'll see benji throw a flick pass in our own 20 in the 13th minute.

nothing is going to change, if it was going to it would have by now..

I disagree, things are changing. If they weren't we wouldn't have even made the eight over the past two seasons.

Don't let your cynical clairvoyance hold you back though.

our talent has gotten better, our intelligence hasnt

dont let your blind love hold you back though

it depends what happens with lui. if he isnt with us next year then we need to sign a good & experienced halfback for 2 years. miller is our future halfback but i dont think he will be ready next season. miller is only turning 20 next year.

Don't need to be smarter ..just get someone that has the ball alot that doesn't go to jelly when the pressure is on ..It's that simple!

No prizes for second best mate, raw talent alone doesn't put you into the top four two years straight. We still have a relatively young side where lets face it, ad-lib footy is a large part of the team dynamic and as a result brain explosions, as much as I hate them, are going to happen. I agree with you that the senior players need to play more conservative football at teams and need to close a game out though.

I'm happy to sit back and wait for the 2012 season to unfurl a little bit before laying the slipper in, but that's not for everyone.

The main reason that I am so angry about the Lui situation is that with another off season under his belt my answer is yes we will be a far smarter and stronger team next year.

However without him as may be the case we will effectively go back to the drawing board to either try and poach or manufacture a half that can lead us.
